when i jog, i can still manage a 6 minute mile time, not as good as my once 5 minute mile but still pretty good for being on meds. but i walk kinda slow. like 3mph, i know my speed because i have a treadmill and i walk a mile in 20 minutes.
it’s funny, when i walk with mom i can’t keep up, as she walks so fast. i just can’t stress myself out to walk fast, its uncomfortable. but when i run with her, i don’t even break a sweat or breathe heavy because she runs so slow.
you must be in good shape for a 6 minute mile. Last time I did that time was probably back in college. I think my best timed mile was 5:15 something like that. Now, when I go for jogs, my pace is about 12:00 minutes a mile. Old age, achy joints, and extra weight have slowed me considerably. Think I’ll stick to incline walks.
im in decent shape, more of a runner physique right now, i’ve lost a lot of strength as i can barely do 20 pushups right now… i just walk 5 minutes, run 6 minutes, then walk 5 minutes as a cool down in the morning. i’ve had my treadmill since last christmas and i’ve slowly got back down to a 6 minute mile. i’ve lost 35 pounds since getting my treadmill. it really makes a difference.
well im only 5’9 with shoes on. but mom is only 5’5 and she walks like 4 mph so i don’t know. she speed walks, and for whatever reason i can only walk at my usual speed without getting uncomfortable.
