I agreed to olanzapine. The other medications led me to the mental hospital.
I lost 100lbs while on invega sustania shot. Simple plan of eating 1500 cal a day and walking 40 minutes a day. I’m starting to gain in back right now though :(.
I’m eating 1500cal a day right now! I’m handling it surprisingly well.
Honestly ive given up trying to loose weight on APs.
Ive thrown the towel in and im probably the fattest on he forum now !!
After gaining 50lb on olanzapine I finally started losing weight. I’m down 10lb. I do not eat for fun anymore and I eat mostly the same things every day.
Lol don’t say that!!
Get on keto. I lost 60 lbs on it. It does wonders for schizophrenia. I cant recommend it it enough.
Did you workout while on keto?
I have gained 70 lb on risperidone and invega …now with insomnia and other issues I feel like changing med
I’m 160 lbs. and I’m a size 16.
Talk to your doctor about keto before you try it. We arent meant to be in a state of ketosis for long periods of time, and when we come off the keto diet all the weight comes back with avengeance. It’s not the most sustainable diet at all, and it can have negative consequences on overall health.
A healthy diet involves carbs, just the right kind eaten at the right time. Try to eliminate processed foods as much as possible. Veggies and fruits should be the biggest portion of your diet, especially veggies, protein should be moderate, healthy fats and dairy should be eaten moderately as well, and carbs should come from complex sources such as steel cut oats and whole grain bread.
Nothing in extreme is good for you. Be it vegan, keto, or eating mostly processed junk food.
A healthy diet is a balanced diet.
Also I have tried keto, have done my research, have talked to nutritionists and doctors, and keto is not good for a long term sustainable diet. Research says it’s good for epilepsy, but as far as for treating schizophrenia all we have is anecdotes. We arent even close to saying it treats schizophrenia.
You are probably short. I’m 5’6. That probably plays a factor.
I wonder why the keto diet is apparently good for szc…
Really… I never heard that. Maybe I need to look into that
I want to lose weight on APs too. I’ve injured my knees so I’m doing yoga and walking. Work is pretty physical as I do the deliveries and I’m on my feet with a lot of heavy lifting.
Im 31 8 weigh 275lbs. 10 years ago i was 144lbs before i just got on meds
I’ve probably gained around 100 pounds in total since starting APs (I’ve gained and lost… and gained again…).
Working to lose weight once and for all.
I don’t mind my appearance tbh but this extra weight isn’t doing favors for my joints.
I worked out before keto. I’d run about 15 miles per week. I ran the same amount after getting on keto. I was still gaining weight while running though.
I’m probably 100 lbs Or 45 kg overweight. My pattern have been eating ok in the mornings and afternoons, but going nuts eating in the evening after taking my Risperidone. Because one of my meds is causing nasal congestion in the evening when trying to sleep, I’ve started taking all my meds in the morning. Since doing this I’m not eating as much in the evening. So far, my mornings and afternoons haven’t changed much either. So now maybe I’ll lose some weight.
