I really need to chill out on the alcohol

For at least a week now, maybe closer to two weeks, I have been drinking every night. I don’t get drunk, but then I have a high tolerance for alcohol.

At the very least I need to mix in some days/nights of sobriety. I plan to do that tonight.

I am certain that my recent drinking is partly responsible for my recent weight gain, just one more reason to cut back and/or quit entirely.

Not to mention I’m spending money I cannot afford to spend. I buy cheap stuff, but still it’s money wasted.

I’ve switched to light beer…Coors Light. I have a few and just get a little buzz. I haven’t been drunk in many months. Give it a try.

Ì hope it works out ok. I actually miss an occasional drink but I’ve gained an allergy to alcohol.

Yeah, I take meds. Another reason to knock it off with the alcohol, I know.

I haven’t touched any alcohol in years.
My meds don’t mix well with booze so I steer clear.

I had gone over two years without a drink, until I fell off the wagon a few months ago.

It’s ok @freakonaleash.
You can get back on track!

Good luck cutting back on the alcohol. Just take it one day at a time. You’ll make it.

I haven’t drank in a year and ten months, but I used to get drunk and do crazy ■■■■ I didn’t remember. They say the two definitive symptoms of alcoholism are blackouts and personality changes.

Alcohol is not necessary.in your life. We should strive to live free from damaging substances.

I stopped drinking too, and i feel great since i don’t have hangovers anymore and i can plan my daily activities.

Mate. I love a beer and I’ll drink everyday if able but it’s mid strength and I too can’t afford to do it!

It’s not bad cutting back. If you don’t abuse it it’s ok to have a treat every now and then. These days I’m trying to leave it to friday and saturday nights!

I don’t drink like I used to but I enjoy the fruits of a positive week!

If your abusing it. Stop. Do something more positive!

I have a rule not to drink on my own, I am only a social drinker. I don’t see the point in getting drunk without people its a social thing.

Hi, @freakonaleash. It is said that one or two daily is OK, but no more than that. I used to drink to get drunk every night, and it put me in a fantasy zone all the time. I mostly shut out my local people and isolated with the internet. It wasn’t much of a “real” life. I had to stop drinking entirely when my stomach revolted. It’s really up to you, my friend, what you want to do

Can you pinpoint a trigger or reason for the drinking?

I’m working on my sobriety too. 65 days. Keeping myself otherwise occupied when i feel impulse to drink helps.

yea shouldn’t drink too much, especially get drunk. I drank often like that before also, I didn’t think it was an issue also. I limited more before my condition, after things started going downhill I started drinking often. Personally I don’t think its healthy long term even If its the 1-2 beer rule. I read something on a medical site that like 20 drinks or a little less through the week is ok for males. Years ago I remember saying that 1-2 beers a day is fine or a glass of wine with a meal. Im not sure where this is going…

Maybe your meds aren’t working properly and you’re self medicating.

When my meds aren’t working right I want to smoke weed. But I’ll never drink again… That is for sure
