I really don’t think my friend has sz

Or maybe she just wants your attention.

In certain circles having a metal illness is supposed to be fashionable.

I don’t know why but this is very true.

It’s not adding up for me still… cause she’s said she’s hallucinated things before and heard voices… so you would think she’d need to be on meds…? But somehow she’s med free and has no symptoms now? Ah, forget it lol… I’m just gonna let it go I guess

No I see your point and you are right.

I see your point too. But shes not being disengenous. Shes trying to say shes on your wavelength. And shes had similar issues even if she wasnt diagnosed. Its empathy and shes trying to relate and bond with you. Its a very positive thing. Seems like a good friend

Like I said… I really like her as a person… it just kind of weirds me out if she is making this up… cause she tells her husband she has SZ and he believes her… she tells her best friend she has SZ… her friend even said to us “it’s kind of weird how your guys’ sz is totally different than each other’s…”

Yeah I see this as a good thing too @anon61987434
She’s attempting to empathize with you it seems

Some here have sz/a or bipolar and are not on any meds. Its possible. I think @LevelJ1 and some mods are off meds.

Oh, cool, thanks for clarifying! That makes me feel a bit better

But one thing is that these people either have a prn or were on meds on the past. Not sure if pdocs give a diagnosis without prescribing any meds at all not even as prn. Maybe she was on meds in the past or has a prn only?

She says she was on lots of meds in the past. So…

It’s just crazy to me too cause she smokes A LOT of the green stuff… and some other things… idk how she stays stable. Maybe just lucky I guess lol

There are a bunch of psychotic disorders that are temporary. If she had one of those and recovered, she wouldn’t need to stay on medication. It does seem a bit odd that she keeps saying SZ, but a lot of the general public aren’t super well versed in the difference between psychotic disorders.

It affects different ppl differently afaik, I posted an article here that said weed worsens sz only in individuals with particular genes, they named 2 genes I think AKT1 and COMT. Some members here smoke it and have no side effects. Myself it makes me psychotic instantly.

If she’s a fan of the green stuff, she might have had a case of drug-induced psychosis and now feels too embarrassed to admit it so she calls it something else. My dad’s friend spent years psychotic after a bad batch of drugs, and his family said he had a seizure that gave him brain damage, because they didn’t want him to face the stigma.

Good point…

Yeah, maybe they just didn’t bother giving her a different diagnosis… I’m just gonna let it go and assume she’s not purposely making something up

Oh gosh…

That sounds horrible

Only for people who don’t have to take APs that make them tired and fat.

Yes i dont take ap except as prn (if i have episode) or not coping with symptoms. Aps have helped me when i needed them for sure.
