So I paid a visit to my psychiatrist today. We had a good chat. I actually went to see her for my twitching thumb and muscle movement in my upper left leg. We talked a lot about possible anti-psycotics that I can use. I’m currently using 25mg Abilify. She said I can go down to 15 and use 5mg Clozapine with it. I didn’t want the clozapine option and I told her that I will consider that as a last option. She also again mentioned the possibility of Xeplion in that it is a one monthly injectable and then I don’t have to drink the pills. She told me to exercise more. She said that the sz illness will not cause my death but the metabolic problems I experience will i.e. high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. She ended up reducing my Abilify dosage to 20mg per day and gave me a prescription for Disipal for the muscle movement. She said it is a side effect from the AP. Today I had a meaningful appointment with her. Other times I visited her felt like such a rush job.
Glad she took the time and care
Seems to know what she doing
Good luck
Sounds like you have a responsible doctor @anon18305065 - Glad that you got to spend more time with her this time.
Lots of my visits with my pdoc seem like rush jobs - I only had about 3 lengthier visits with her
I do not even get to see a pdoc where i live, i see a psychiatric nurse practitioner, not even monthly, only when i am not doing well. He just asks me typical questions , am i eating ok, am i sleeping ok, how are mt meds working for me, and then he is done with me in less than 5 minutes, and if i want anything changed he adamently refuses. Not only does he refuse, he will not even listen to the voice of reason, he just says “i think we are done here”.
kittycat. I had a pdoc just like that for the longest time. and I wouldn’t budge from doing what he said. I still am not sure how to assess it.
