I saw my pdoc. Tonight I’m supposed to take half of a 15 mg pill of Zyprexa and then tomorrow and on the full 15 mg. I’m taking half my Abilify for tonight and two more nights.
She’s willing to try Clozapine if I am. First, my insurance said to get a prior authorization for that many blood tests. But they might approve it and if they do the blood draws are free for me.
I am doing fairly well on clozapine. Just be prepared for it to take awhile for it to work. I’ve tried every ap with little success and this one works. Side effects are generally what turns people away. Weight gain (don’t they all) and drooling. You can get drops for that.
I hope it gets approved. Best wishes sent your way.
Are you going to give the Zyprexa time to work first, or are you just going to switch to Clozapine if your insurance approves it? I noticed a difference in just the first five days of 5 mg of Zyprexa and it’s only gotten better with time. I was on 10 mg for a month, but I only need 7.5 mg as the lowest effective dose.
I hope the Zyprexa works well for you too like it does me! You know I’m losing weight on it, so you don’t necessarily have to fall victim to weight gain.
I’m going to try Zyprexa first. I usually need the max dose for results. If I have problems with it I’ll try to get the prior authorization for Clozapine blood work
I really hope it works out for you! I think the max dose for Zyprexa is 20 mg so you’d still have a little bit of room to go up if necessary.
My pdoc thought I’d need a high dose of Zyprexa since I needed 30 mg of Haldol and it wasn’t enough to touch my paranoia. 7.5 mg Zyprexa has been a pleasant surprise for both of us.
