My father is a couple of months to his 90th birthday
His health is declining more and more
He gets real fatigued so easily now and he’s losing his vision and hearing.
He’s got a type of blood cancer similar to Leukemia
I’m trying to prepare myself for the worst at any moment
I’ll be alone in the future
It’s not going to be easy for me and I know that going to a group home or supportive housing situation may be my only option.
Be strong, you will adapt. Your father has a right to fail and die as we all do.

@Wave you can always move to Pauls Valley, Okla. , cost of living here in okla. is very low…and there’s a non profit med clinic here for the mentally ill. and we could be buds…I wouldn’t leave you hanging either.
Yeah, that is another reason why I am at the group home….if my father passes away, I will be alone. My father is 77 years old.
Sorry to hear about your father’s blood cancer. No one is ever ready to be an orphan, even if the relationship with parents isn’t the best. Do you have any group homes planned ahead of time? Does your city have a distress line you can call when you need someone to talk with?

Yeah, it might be good to plan ahead and check out some group homes or assisted living or whatever you can afford. Some places that are nice and you want to get into may have a waiting list. If you put your name on a waiting list now, in a year or two or more your name may come up right when you need it.
