I’m applying for PIP and hoping to get the full rate, which would increase my income massively, making me reasonably well off.
Is there anyone from the UK here who is on PIP for psychosis and do you have any advice for getting it?
Thanks

Unlikely you’ll get the full rate.
You’ve got to be extremely poorly
Especially the moving rate.
It’s like you’ve got to not leave your house… Unable to and only leave with someone with you sort of thing.
You need a supporting statement from your pdoc or psychiatric nurse
Hi thanks for this, even if I don’t get the full rate something will be better then nothing.
I am working full time, but would really be in a better financial position with some help
Do you have a psych nurse?
It’s difficult to get.
I got standard Daily Living and Mobility.
I was 1 point off the enhanced in each category
They gave me points for things I did not even say were problems, and they ignored my feedback and the report was garbage
I cut my loses, and just accepted it without arguing
Took 2 attempts.
In Belgium you can’t get disability if you work full-time. The max you can work is 50%, if the doc approves. Else you can’t work at all.
Consider yourself lucky in the UK that you can combine benefits with a paid job.
Yeah I have a psyc nurse and care co ordinater
That’s not bad though, you were working and driving as well.
Even standard rate is another 300 pounds a month. That would make a massive difference to my life.
It’s very handy
I use it to pay for a cleaner, and the rest I save for when I need to take time off sick
Rainy day fund
That’s what it’s for
Yeah would be great for me. I only just about survive financially at the moment. Hopefully I’ll at least get something!
Don’t expect it first time. If you do get it then you’re lucky.
You can re-apply every 6 months
If you want to contest it, you can appeal to the court
In canada you can’t make more than 5000 a year if your on the longterm disability. It’s a friggen joke
I wont say much - but the key to getting PIP is frankly a letter from your Care-coordinator / Shrink or equvalant.
You just gotta make sure its says “life long” diagnosis of schizophrenia.
I get enhanced rate PIP daily living (no mobility) which is about 400 a month.
When you get PIP - you automatically get the Severe Disability Premium as well, which is another 80 odd quid a week on the ESA (or universal credit)
In total im on about £1400 a month, with the rent paid by housing benefit ontop.
Best of luck,
I got it after I applied for the fourth time. I collected paperwork that showed i have been in hospital for psychosis. Collect as much information to show them as you can. Then I wrote to my local MP sayiing I have been struggling and my application is being rejected time and time again. They wrote to the PIP office and suddenly my mum gets a call from them to assess me and I got it.
Thank you for the advice
No problem. Just start moaning now to your keyworker at your mental health team for a letter, and you should be fine.
I get full whack for both awards. About £616 a month. I got awarded it without a face-to-face medical, in fact I have never been to a medicals for the old DLA and now PIP. Been claiming since I was 17 so 19 odd years now
My community wrote a report for me. I have been sectioned 13 times in 11 years. I don’t know if I’m a severe case as I do travel abroad alone but my community nurse certainly made out I was a severe case, maybe I am.
@bobbilly . You love to brag how much “disabilty” you get - and what holidays you go on. When in reality NO ONE GIVES A TOSS.
