I’m moving in my new flat today. Lots of hassle but I’m also getting lots of support. We had freshly made beef burger for lunch, it was fittingly foul. Tomorrow back to being a pescetarian. If it works, and I think it will, I might become a vegetarian a year from now. Veganism I fear will always remain out of my reach.
What’s wrong with meat?
Good luck on your diet.i hope you can get rid of this brutal meat diet
Lot of things. My main reason though is purely selfish, it doesn’t agree with me anymore. Not much point eating something you don’t even enjoy. Also, whenever I’ve stopped eating meat in the past I’ve quickly lost weight.
Thank you. Are you a vegetarian?
İ want to be vegan but i m living with my parents and i m eating what they eat usually.all day i m at work and making dishes really hard when i m come home
You’ve just gotta make sure you get all the nutrients from food.
My niece is vegan and she takes iron supplements and b12.
You gotta make sure you get iron zinc and b12 on them diets.
I was vegetarian for 2 years, followed by 1 year of full blown vegan. It’s not easy.
I developed iron deficiency and started eating dirt.
Just be smart about it is probably the best way to go about it
@Green I totally agree. I’m already taking supplements.
I can agree with you on this.
To live a long life beyond 80+ years of age, one needs to consume mostly vegetables & fruits.
The idea of veganism is great, so no animals have to suffer and whatnot. Actually I was vegetarian for about 1 1/2 years…but I got sick from not getting meat.
Almost all our ancestors ate meat and dairy and it’s been passing from generation to generation so much that our body…our DNA is programmed to depend on the nutrients you get from animal products.
That doesen’t mean you can’t be vegan. But you almost need to be a health expert to substitute the nutrition you should be getting from meat.
And I guess it’s also about the person. Some peoples DNA is more suceptible to a vegan diet, while others actually get sick if they don’t get animal products.
So if you feel healthy being vegan, great. But if you get sick, you better think twice.
I’m not a big meat eater, but I do enjoy eating the occasional hot dog or hamburger.
I consume more chicken products than I do beef.
I don’t really like fish unless it’s tuna.
Good luck @NotSeksoEmpirico
100% agree.
Humans evolved to consume meat; our teeth, stomach enzymes, gut tract length, and gut microbiota all point towards meat eating.
At least try to stay Pescetarian @NotSeksoEmpirico
But if you go Vegetarian, just keep your diet diverse.
I’m trying to eat more veg again.
I’m the same way. The only seafood I can tolerate is tuna. Weird.
I used to be vegan. I didn’t have any health issues, but planning out my meals to incorporate all the nutrients I needed was tiresome
I take your point but dairy has been a relatively new addition to our diet and levels of meat consumption show a huge variation throughout space and time, from strict meatarians like traditional inuits (who developed the ability to synthesise their own vitamin c) to strict vegans in India. In evolutionary terms the only constant is our incredible adaptability.
Thank you @Wave.
I’m not planning on going vegan, too much work for a single schizo man.
I was vegetarian / vegan for 5 years. Healthiest I have ever been but the quasireligious discipline required to not eat animal products was something i didnt have the passion for.
Meat free for 9 years it’s second nature at this point. I was vegan for the first couple of years but found it too hard to feel good without supplements and couldn’t afford them at the time. I really want to go vegan again though. If I get disability soon I will.
I’m an omnivore, but I prefer meat over vegetables.
