I joined a walking group today and I’m hoping to make friends on walks

Wonderful. I met my partner at a walking group.
Cool! How often do they walk?
That sounds great!
looks like there is 2 walking groups and one of them is mostly for older people, the other one looks a lot more exciting so i booked 2 events and a couple of maybes & its good because the times and lengths are really good. the increased activity seems to be really helping me mentally although I’ve been forgetting meds a bit more lately.
I really enjoyed kayaking when i was camping so I’m thinking about fitting a roof rack on my car and strapping one on, the only thing i worry about is capsizing & getting on and off bc i scratched my leg a bit getting out.
Noooo. Don’t forget your meds!
The walking group sounds great.
I’m glad you’re getting yourself out there. That’s really good for your mental health.
In re forgetting your meds - there are apps you can download on your phone to remind you to take them. I use one. If I’m away from home, I simply snooze, or reschedule, my alarm. After I take the med it’s reminding me of, I mark it taken. That way, I always know if I’ve taken it or not.
Good for you, that’s a huge step!
I should do something like that! I’m full of excuses though.
Yeah great idea. It’s also good to exercise and socially it’s a nice way to meet people. Good on you as we would say!
@shortcircuit Well done on joining a walking group. I was in a walking group via my then mental health centre for a few years. Unfortunately it got reduced to being a 30 minute walk around town.
Now my restricted mobility means I can’t join such a group. When more mobile I considered joining a few groups, but always backed out of doing so because I needed to know I’d stay in close contact with the other walkers. I was scared stiff of getting separated from the other walkers, and getting lost.
I hope i can keep up with the other walkers. sometimes others walk too fast
