It was ok tonight.
It’s mainly a bipolar and depression support group but I was glad when another girl with Schizoaffective Disorder showed up.
She had a lot to say and was very interesting.
There was a new guy there with bipolar who was into Reggae- he was an annoying know it all.
Overall I’m glad I went as usual.
I get to get out of the house for a while and see other like minded individuals.
I’d like to be in a support group. I already tried to be in a bipolar support group because my psychologist was thinking I was bipolar. But I couldn’t be in the group because I had not a bipolar diagnosis.
Actually, many years later, I still don’t have a diagnosis so I can’t be in any support group despite I’m taking an antipsychotic.
It’s really bad to not have a diagnosis…
The only support group where I am accepted is here. It is a really great support group but here we don’t see each others in the real life and we are very far away each others.
I used to attend the Bipolar and Depression Support Alliance meetings and went for many years when I was very psychotic and paranoid and needed the support. But, I was frustrated by the fact that no one could relate to what I was going through. Everyone there either complained about how sad they were, or talked non stop about everything and anything in their lives. I was kind of an oddball.
I miss my support group and day program here. They were not considered essential, so now I isolate more and have no motivation to do any scheduled activities outside of maintaining my residence. I wish mostly for the day program to come back. I’m glad you have a group to go to.
I wish there was a support group near me. I don’t really like NAMI because their meetings are so rare and confusing, like the third Thursday of every month. I wish there was some weekly thing.
A good group that you connect with is a great resource. There was a dual diagnosis group that I went to a long time ago that was a comfort. (In case you don’t know, “dual diagnosis” means mentally ill and drug addicted.) I used to get a lot out of AA meetings too.
