I have to give up coffee

There’s quite a few reasons I’m giving up coffee. One of which is I’m addicted to the caffeine and normally have 3 cups every morning. Also it’s against my religion to drink coffee but I’ve always ignored that rule because I love coffee. Anyone got any tips to stop drinking coffee? I don’t know what I’ll do in the morning without it. I can’t have tea either, unless it’s herbal tea. I feel like I need the caffeine to function

Oh another reason I’m stopping coffee is because of my racing heart

I stopped coffee about 3 or 4 years ago, i stopped it because of chest burn, it was severe, after stopping it i feel so better, for sz’nics cold turkey way always works the best. You can try black tea, just a pinch of tea powder till the water changes color to brown and add some lemon to the tea as per your requirement, Actually here we call it sulaimani tea, finally add sugar as required.

here is a better version of tea which will taste even better, but time consuming

I appreciate the suggestion. But according to my religion I can’t have black or green tea. Only herbal tea with no caffeine. I’m going to try going tomorrow with no coffee and see how it goes

I still drink coffee but it has to be decaf. Good luck on caffeine riddance. I would like to be caffeine free. Do you take anything for rapid heartbeat?

Hi @roxanna I used to take beta blockers to lower my heart rate. But I’ve been off them almost 6 months now.

Do you like peppermint tea? It is caffeine-free and pretty refreshing. I find it less bland than many other herbal teas.

If you like the taste of coffee, another option is to get decaf coffee.

I was drinking 5 coffees a day and tapered it totally. Then I decided to be okay with one a day. I enjoy the energy boost. I think it’s reasonably healthy and I don’t have any religion telling me what to drink or not.

I just started drinking de-caf coffee a month ago, don’t really like the taste.
There’s supposed to be lots of health benefits in moderation.

Day 7 of no coffee! Or tea. Only herbal tea I have been drinking. I seem to be able to sleep better

I don’t have an issue with drinking coffee like I did. I feel it barely does anything to me. I used to want to get off it. I’ve in the past felt I had a calmer more focused mind off it. It also makes people more easily triggered by the fight or flight impulse. Good luck quitting if that’s what you want. I guess try and replace it with something. Back in the day my day couldn’t start unless I had some coffee. I was bad on it.

Maybe you could try one of the coffee substitutes. A lot of them are made with dandelion, or chicory or some other roasted plant.

Do a search online for “coffee substitutes” and you will get a list of them.

It’s not so much a health issue as it is a moral issue for me.

I am maintaining balance in the cosmos by drinking extra cof-fay for you.

How kind of you @shutterbug

It’s a twofer. Coffee not only gives me the jitters, but my cardiologist as well.

Money well spent!
