I have found a new forum

(Kinda a joke but also serious)
I have had 5 treatments that took much effort to prepare for, and i discovered a baby today.
Reading the posts on that bedbug forum, these bedbugs scar people’s lives and are traumatic and f*** with ur life.

Smh not my blood, bedbugs.

A few years ago I moved into a very bedbug infested apartment. It was a massive infestation. I had to move, the landlord actually blamed it on me and kept my deposit, and I had to throw away most of my possessions. It was a horrible time.

that’s not good! lucky i don’t sleep on a bed

Two things that helped were diatomaceous earth and this big tent-oven thing, I think it’s called ZapBug or something. I was able to salvage some stuff that way and mostly prevent the bugs from travelling to my new place. Godspeed.

Where do you sleep? I don’t use blankets or a pillow typically

Dam @animalmineral. I’m afraid i may lose this apartment too. Do u work, or live in govt assisted housing? Pest control said they may only treat a couple more times before landlord has to do something different. I gassed the place myself in the beginning with canisters from home depot and pest control says that could of made it worse. I really regret it, cuz pest control was very optimistic in beginning.

I am gonna post on that other forum tomorrow, right now i just dont have energy to make account.

(Btw while i was typing this a baby dropped on top of this phone screen, so i am gonna go back to sleeping on couch)

U could still get an infestation, MI ppl seem to think drop-in centers are good places to hang out at. This is where i suspect i got them. Lotsa homeless ppl there. Either that or one of my neighbors.

@Esm I work and live in my own apartment.

How big of an infestation do you have?

Here’s the thing: don’t spray chemicals. They don’t really work and they’re bad for you. My landlord sent in some cheapo exterminators who sprayed chemicals around and it did nothing. If it’s a small to medium sized infestation, use food-grade diatomaceous earth. Throw out your mattress or seal it in a cover. That will be a good start. My 2 cents. Good luck, bedbugs are horrible. :frowning:

Yeah they’re a real nightmare, once you have them you basically have to burn everything you own to get rid of them.

My mom thought we had bedbugs once and totally freaked out, threw out all this bedding and bought all knew stuff and got all this special bedding and supplies for it. Then we got it checked by an actual pest person and we didn’t have any, thank the lord.

No kidding. I dont know how to rate my infestation. After all the work i did to kill them plus pest control it doesnt seem bad. Just see one on the wall everyother day for past few weeks. Today two babies in bedroom but i been sleeping in livingroom on couch and that area isnt really infested. Pest control suspects i had em for a month before i discovered it.

No offense in anyway, but it doesn’t seem u know how to beat em either since u had to move out. thanks for advice and support tho. I had no idea just how bad these things where, i didnt even know they suck ur blood.

That’s really rough… they can also get into your clothes and lay eggs there so you can spread them to other areas of your house. Honestly I’d recommend burning/tossing all your bedding and clothing and any other sort of cloth you have, including towels and whatnot. Then professional carpet cleaning at least…(they can also get into carpet…some people even tear up all the old carpet and replace it…)

That’s your best bet…and don’t stay in your house while the clean up is happening, so you can starve off as many as possible…get exterminator…blah blah…it’s war :rage: Lol

I moved into a massively infested apartment. It was overrun by the time I moved in, probably had been for years. There is basically nothing to do for that. It sounds like your infestation is small and contained. A few of them traveled with me to my new place and I ended up with a small infestation that I was able to beat with diatomaceous earth. I suspect you could too.

I checked clothes and other stuff before i put em in bags, they seemed fine. They say u dont have to burn em, just dry it on highest heat setting.

Good luck!! Hope ya nuke em all

I will check out this diatomaceous earth stuff. They said dont use my own stuff cuz it could interfere with pest control’s stuff. Was it the building u were in was infested or the particular apartment unit u had was infested? I’m still unsure as to whether my neighbors could have spread it to me.

The whole building was infested. It’s definitely possible that they came from your neighbors. Yeah, look into the D.E. I’m sure you’ll see it mentioned on the bedbug forum. I still keep some around in case the ■■■■■■■ come back someday, but I’ve been clean of them since I beat that smaller infestation thank god.

If you’re going to use Diatomaceous earth then make sure it is Food Grade Diatomaceous earth. It is safe to use (and apparently it’s edible?)

I bought a steam cleaner and just steamed the carpet/clothes I wore. I did quite a few treatments and would continue using the steam cleaner even if it seemed like there weren’t any.

Eventually everyone was sleeping on air mattresses (they can’t climb those) and I would keep my feet off the floor while sitting in my chair on the computer.

At some point no one complained about them (but no one said thanks for stressing myself while they rested comfortably and only complained about it).

An iron that releases steam might also work on the carpet.

Those b-stards gave me weird dreams until they were gone (or just seemed like they were).

Thx, sounds like u got rid of them, this gives me hope. My clothes are bedbug free, and i never seen any on carpets, i dunno where they hide. Maybe the crack between floor and carpet, pest control suspected, but he treated it.
