I have watched a couple of heart wrenching videos, read a couple of books and a few websites. On top of having trouble digesting meat, and the expense of buying it I’ve decided to become a lacto ovo vegetarian. I am wondering if there are others on this site who are practicing this lifestyle. I could use some pointers.
I was a vegetarian for five years and trying to go back on it now again. Can’t digest meat well either
@Minnii what is the best way to get started?
It’s a just do it kind of thing. But if you want to go slow, start not eating meat but eating fish still. And get some vegetarian recipes of the internet, so you can get started knowing how to cook it
Did you find things like skin clearing, cholesterol going down, weight loss things that you experienced?
Yeah, my skin and my hair were way better than now, no cholesterol problems,my weight was balanced back then.
Why did you go back to eating meat?
It was right before my hospitalization, I was ravenous and decided to eat a steak when I left the hospital… dumb decision but well, now I only eat meat once a week.
I found it was healthier for me. I’d like to go back to it for health reasons, not moral ones, but I would have limited support from my family, especially my daughter. She’s a carnivore and then some.

I know what you mean. Today when I asked a family member if they would like the meat that is in the freezer, I was told"just wait you’ll be back to eating meat in a week. No one changes just because of some stupid tv show. You can’t believe all that you have heard or seen on tv."
I couldn’t do it. I like chicken too much
I tried eating meat once per week…and still ate seafood on odds days, but I just couldn’t do it. Wasn’t for me.
Doesn’t mean it can’t be for you
I’d rather enjoy my life than be a vegetarian for the wrong reasons.
Lost weight, pimples cleared up, diverticular disease REALLY stopped aggravating me and I had less discomfort. Problem was that we lived on a working farm/ranch at the time and my wife’s parents kept showing up and putting chicken and beef in our freezer. We wound up using it and that was the end of that.

Weight loss, hair volume, mood enhancing, skin clearing…etc. I was veggie for 7 years and recently went back to it. Just be sure to research the proper intake of vitamins and protein. It’s easier if you have veggie friends and/or partner. Good luck
I was a vegetarian for 10 years, and fully vegan for six months only…
I was vegan for a month or two last year, and that was a disaster, all I ate were I was vegan for a month or two last year, and that was a disaster, all I ate was checker treats and I gained 18lbs
Im newly not eating eggs and dairy of any kind which has almost as much impact as not eating meat …
I’ll let you know how I get on later but at the moment I’m just using plant life, including juice or olive oil but still eating meat or fish
Almost every piece of meat or fish I have is organic or sea fish and I have it once a day this is the closest i think I can get… Because I feel like I’m being honest with myself and the planet
This diet is still at the expense of animals, but hopefully marginally happier healthier ones and it has a limit which I can reduce if I can stick it … I eat quite a lot of vegan protein shakes and fruit… Expensive things like hempseed’s cacao nibs nut butter and Chia seeds as well
My husband will hardly touch a vegetable, and doesn’t give a ■■■■ about the animals…
I have a much healthier diet, which worries me
I also tend to eat organic, it’s all better quality anyway. I’m trying to cut the dairy now. It’s hard but it helps the skin, I have pimples now, I never had those. I often drink milk with my coffee, it’s going to be hard to let go of dairy
This is going to sound morbid…think of milk as cow puss and eggs as chicken abortions, helped me.
Sorry.
I think of that, my guilt is terrible. I feel so guilty eating meat and dairy that its actually contributing to my depression.
Im veggie 3 years. Its a good road to follow. Be sure to treat yourself to veggie food or restaurant.
I have been vegetarian for about two years now. Whenever I ate meat before I would just throw it up, so it was kind of a no brainier for me. I still eat fish like once every two months, usually in the form of sushi.
If you are just transitioning, I highly recommend Morningstar veggie burgers. They can be microwaved, grilled, or cooked in a pan with a little olive oil. They are four dollars for four patties where I live, but they are very filling. More filling than a regular burger. Most people think the spicy black bean burgers are the best.
Since becoming vegetarian, I have found that I have more energy and I have lost a lot of weight, but I think part of that was switching to Geodon at roughly the same time. In the summer, when I have mostly farm-fresh veggies and fruit, I can get away with having ice cream every day and not gaining weight. In the winter, everything is canned and I have to go to the gym if I want to keep eating ice cream.
Sorry to everyone for how idealistic my post was
I’m struggling with no sugar no dairy
Thinking its honest to eat meat not abuse and kill for products is stupid and arrogant
Think it’s paleo diet and I’m not sure it’s healthy really
