Imagine a person, intact mentally, psysically and emotionally, in every aspect his a normal person who can function like a regular person, imagine this person has never lived/existed beforeš® (bear with me) like he was in some kind of a limbo state with no mind content, feelings or excitation of the senses.
Now, this person wakes up in a small island, surrounded by a sea. This person never thought or felt anything, he was non - existent, and all out of a sudden his living, like he was born at the age of 30 and thrown on the island.
My questions are:
How does the first thought appear in his mind?
Why did it appear?
And what the thought was?
The person is in a pure state of being where there is no labelling which is a trait all children go through when they ask incessant questions so that they can label things such as names like the sea, sand etc.
The person wouldnāt have language to describe its surroundings or situation.
A grunt would form for things like thirst, hunger and searing heat or cold.
The idea of seeking comfort from thirst or hunger would be the first thought. Perhaps, even the genetically imprinted laws such as not looking at the sun may well be the first concept undertaken, along with gulping and sweating and trying to understand why.
Grunt for hot sand on the feet perhaps, thus learning to not step there for long.
He wouldnāt speak any language, so Iām thinking his first thought might be āUggā or else he would just start screaming and crying like a baby. Also he would have no motor skills so he would probably collapse.
Interesting take @Ribbon@labratmat
I think it would be the senses which would create a sense of identity, or the psisiology of the body which would create a sense of awarness
First, he would break open a coconut and scoop out the contents and eat it. Then he would take care of his most pressing needs, like shelter and regular food. Then he would gaze out over the ocean and decide that some mighty god must have created the ocean and placed him there. Then he would utter sound like Ogg, and decide that was what this god was called. Then he would go searching for stones that he could pile up, and he put coconuts and plant roots in front of it. Then he would make scratches on the rocks that signified the word āOggā, and he would bow down and worship this āOggā.
