First of all he stays psychotic way too long until gets hospitalized, like 5 years as remember or even more. Normal Sz takes maximum a years from first symptoms. Also depicts hallucinations way too much realistic, for example why he did not notice the mail box to be too full when he comes to drop in his letters? Tactile hallucinations are addressed somehow correct with his implant, but like said hallucinations were way too overexagerrated. Also when he gets put on medication shows he can’t even have a shower, just smoke and sit on a pitch. This sends false message to schizophrenics that they must avoid medication at all costs and achieve anything in their lives. Also when he goes off medication, his brain does not create new hallucinations that is a struggle to normal sz (that says is nr 1 condition for his life without meds). Also he does not go manic when he is off his meds and can normally study which would be IMPOSSIBLE for sz as his papers and theories would be full of delusions. I think it is the worst depictions of SZ
Also worth to mention that somehow the film says only really smart people get SZ but in reality I met some people at a hospital dumb as bricks. Also as I read there were taken out many sexual homosexual interface out of film that makes psychotic SZs have sex with a lot people when manic
It is an overrated movie. The visual hallucinations are way too glamorous and cinematic when in actual fact Nash didn’t even suffer from visual hallucinations. It is also implied that he scrambled through partly tkanks to his wife, which wasn’t the case at all as they separated early on.
Thank you! Also no weight gain from meds were depicted. Also ECT is depicted as a way of human torture.
Did Nash had a simple sz?
I don’t think so, he had delusions and hallucinations
He did not have hallucinations and I’ve read his delusions were mild that he managed to continue with his work
So he had no schizophrenia? I think he had some crazy delusions.
Simple sz seems like no schizophrenia to me.
Maybe he had catatonic sz with almost no positive symptoms or just really mild ones. No SZ on earth without medication could earn a Nobel prize
Look in my eyes, what do you see?
The cult of personality
I know your anger, I know your dreams
I’ve been everything you want to be
I’m the cult of personality
Like Mussolini and Kennedy
I’m the cult of personality
The cult of personality
The cult of personality
Neon lights, a Nobel Prize
Then a mirror speaks, the reflection lies
You don’t have to follow me
Only you can set me free
I sell the things you need to be
I’m the smiling face on your T.V.
I’m the cult of personality
I exploit you still you love me
I tell you one and one makes three
I’m the cult of personality
Like Joseph Stalin and Gandhi
I’m the cult of personality
The cult of personality
The cult of personality
Neon lights a Nobel Prize
A leader speaks, that leader dies
You don’t have to…
Listened to the song above from GTA san…
And thought I will get a Nobel prize, all cuz of Nash. Got so happy, but not able to study anymore!!!
I think he was paranoid sz, with delusions but only, later in life, auditory hallucinations. But certainly no vivid imaginary people following him around.
The one shocking thing the movie does convey is the effect of insuline shock therapy.
I thought A Beautiful Mind was a top notch movie.
Good story line, grade A acting and quite entertaining.
The men started following me in 2008. I was crazy religious before that too. I didn’t end up diagnosed until 2014
I read Nash didn’t like the film because it portrayed the meds to be what helped when he just developed insight over time.
I didn’t get it the first time I saw it. I hadn’t hallucinated yet. But then I started hallucinating and they were just like his. I see people and they talk to me.
I think it’s a pretty accurate depiction for Hollywood.
I have never been manic. Not even once. I don’t see that as a flaw in the film. From my experience schizophrenics don’t have mania. You just feel like ■■■■ each and every day.
It took eleven years from the time of my first psychotic breakdown and my diagnosis of sza.
Sz have lots of sex? That would be nice. I haven’t touched a woman since getting sick.
I like the movie, I mean all schizophrenics are a little different.
