A Beautiful Mind, the movie

I saw this movie about 15 years ago and didn’t appreciate it at the time. (I just watched it again.) I objected to the fact that the patient had visual instead of auditory hallucinations. But now I understand that the point was that the reality itself was badly distorted. The utter futility of the disease in it’s worst form was accurately portrayed. I understood the disease as it was manifested to me starting in 1981. We have come a very long way. It’s been a long road. Now the disease experience is at least partially tolerable with some better drugs.
A friend died from suicide about 10 years ago and when they were distributing her belongings, I was given this movie.
I was very touched by it. The movie, basically, is true.
I say thank you to the people who made this movie, and I also thank several people who have helped me along on this journey.

Your statement is very strong. You have found a way to have faith about this illness. Thanks for the statement.

When I got diagnosed I didn’t know what schizophrenia was and my psychiatrist recommended this movie. I said I don’t have that. I don’t have any imaginary friends.

Then I started hallucinating and I did have imaginary friends.

I think the depiction of schizophrenia in this movie is accurate now. I hallucinate just like he did except I think the government is out to get me and not that I secretly work for them.

And now I do work for the government.

I loved the movie the first time I saw it and my family watched it with me and my sister was really blown away when the movie revealed that he was delusional about working in codes for the governement…my belief system was much different as I believed I was a laser on a Dvd player in a spaceship delivering Satan to the lake of Fire…anyways…it’s all in the book…some day I hope it will be discovered.

Why go all the way to the theater and spend $11.00 or $12.00 for the movie when I can get the live show by staring in my bathroom mirror for two hours for free?
