Is A Beautiful Mind An Accurate Portrayal Of Schizophrenia?

For Hollywood standards, yes

I think it was. I know they changed his delusions from what he was actually experiencing. I think it’s close to truth of what could happen.

No because he only had auditory. Hollywood gave it a visual representation

I gotta say, the soundtrack in that was top notch

I agree with @LevelJ1 . It certainly was not an accurate depiction of HIS schizophrenia for sure. But it’s understandable why they did it that way for the purpose of storytelling.

I dont think it was accurate anyway…full blown psychosis is alot worse

I watched this film with my sister and her family the first time, they were all shocked when it turned out he really wasn’t working for the govt. that was the mind blowing thing about it…they convince you it’s happening and then you see he’s imagining the whole thing…great movie in my book…i d k if it depicts nash’s true delusions to the t but is sure sounds about right as far as paranoia I experienced while ill.

Very accurate film. I don’t have hallucinations but I see patterns that mean nothing everywhere just like John Nash suffered from and the movie.

There’s a book written about John Nash. I believe his delusions were different than what was portrayed in the movie. Still a good movie. A caveman’s valentine with Samuel Jackson is the best portrayal in Hollywood of schizophrenia. That and the soloist are more realistic.

Guys, this thread is 3 years old.

Requesting lock.

I was going to start a new post on the movie but thought it was probably talked about before. So I searched and posted. Didn’t want to spam the site with topics already discussed.
