Don’t mind the rust it’s an old cage I use for “quarantine” rats. Their names are Pan and Norax, I have an Apollo so I stuck with the Greek mythology. Hermes just passed away so I had to get Apollo new cage mates.

I used to love mine. When my kids were little they had pet rats and we were fostering some dogs. I forgot to move the rats to the bedroom one morning and when I came home for lunch from work I found the cage ripped into pieces and both rats dead. Then I found out from the Humane Society the reason why these dogs had been given up for adoption is because they were killing chickens. I was so pissed off. At myself, yes, but at them too. My kids were so upset.

The strange thing was these dogs didn’t show an interest either, but they killed them anyway.

I worry about that because I want to get a big service dog. Right now I just have a mini dachshund and the cage is high up enough she can’t reach. Hopefully the service dog works out and they’ll be trained enough not to do that

I love rats :purple_heart: I had some a few years ago and honestly you’re right they’re just like little puppies. I did have to give them up to the shelter though cause I couldn’t look after them anymore. Rats are the best though!

you can always put the cage in the other room, just don’t forget like I did. I still don’t forgive myself.
