I find it hard to be generous and not over generous

My friend,a girl whom I like didn’t have enough money in Bangkok. She wanted to spend more but didn’t had the money.I asked if she would like to borrow 50 dollar from me but she didn’t replied and I just kept quiet also.Am I like taking care of myself or am I a little stingy?
My reason for not giving her the 50 dollar is because she is not my GF,she’s just a friend whom I like.I shared this matter with my father,he told me that she’s not my significant others,I don’t have the responsibility to pay for her…I guess my dad is right

I hold with your dad. It is her responsibility to bring as much money as she needs. Maybe if she didn’t have enough for a return trip home, then maybe you’d have some obligation. But just to keep her happy shopping, no, no way.

Yea,I must remember although I do not face financial problem but I am not very wealthy.I got an average pay just like most people of my age,I just don’t spend a lot of money, that’s why I don’t have financial trouble

I had become so disagreeable and negative that I had to buy my friends at one point in my life (The Dark Night of the Soul)…google it) but at least they could fake like they were friends as long as I had something they wanted and likewise. I don’t care if I die from being alone too much any more. I will never buy my friends again.

I find my connection with friends is more of having similiar experience and some emotional connection like we get to laugh and maybe cheer each other up when others feel sad.I agree that some times money can really help build relationship, that’s why we had to work and earn money

It would have been a nice thing to do…IF, she had a steady job or money in the bank to pay you back immediately. But loaning someone money when you are all just aquaintances and not really close friends probably would have been a bad idea.

Yea,I didn’t borrow her my money,it’s the right choice hopefully…

My 'rule of thumb’is I don’t give chicks money unless they’ve earned it.
