Today I went outside my house for the first time in many months (excluding Dr apts). I felt weird shopping with my parents at 31.y.o. I think ppl are laughing at me as I am still a baby. Most ppl were couples or friends or kids with their parents.

@Aziz if my mother were alive today I would be happy to get to go anywhere with her. Be thankful that you still have your parents to spend time with. Jeeze.

Don’t worry about it. I don’t think anyone cares if you shop with your parents. It could just be a way to have quality time together. No big deal

I usually shop alone but there is nothing wrong with shopping with your parents. I went to Costco with my dad a few weeks ago. People are not generally paying that much attention to who you are shopping with anyway. They are too wrapped up in their own concerns.

It’s my job to do the grocery shopping because my parents are in their 70’s. My dad can’t drive and my mom is too weak to push a heavy grocery cart around the store.
Before the pandemic they always came with me. I didn’t care. I’m 43 and would go shopping with them all the time.

Well I just went out shopping again and to repair a car with my brother and parents, I felt better this time, maybe I was paranoid bcz I stayed home for too long and wasn’t used to go out. I need to get out of the house daily to keep my social skills.

Sometimes I buy non food stuff and she pays for me. But I pay for expensive stuff like computer parts and video games.

I go shopping with my parents when I visit them. We go to the grocery market and maybe to the mall but not very often. I go out often by myself or with my friend. I am glad you got to go out.

I mean I help my parents shop, and my parents don’t mind it. I’m in my late 20s and they are getting old, so they need more help as they get older. So I don’t think it’s weird to help your parents shop when you are 31 years old. I know that my aunts sometimes shop with my grandmother and they’ve done it for years now. If your family is in need of company or help, why is it weird to be with them when they’re in need?

Aziz I’m sorry you are having a tough time right now. I’m 29 and going shopping with my mom is ok. We generally have goals and a place to meet up. Are they managing your money? If so I could see why its frustrating. I pray for ya bud.

When I was in mental hospital, my parents bought me clothes. I had no summer clothes till then, like shorts. Because in my first psychosis I’ve thrown away a lot of clothes.
