I asked him if crispr could ever be applied to schizophrenia even though it is polygenic and here is what he had to say…
“Theoretically, it is possible even for polygenic disorders if risk genes are not playing equal roles. Some of the risk genes may play very significant roles and these ones are possible targets. Since polygenic means that you will have to have all of them happening together, correct 1-2 key risk genes may be sufficient. Whether and when various symptoms are reversible is a different question (developmental defects). We will know a lot more in the next few years.”
In my past lives, a long time ago, I messaged physicists…i don’t do that anymore. I dont care anymore.
I’m surprised they answered you and got through.
I’m surprised an assistant or TA or graduate student didn’t answer. I thought their too busy to manage their own emails lol…
guy must be wicked nice
Ya.
I bet they get a lot of cranks or crazy people message them. I know Nick Bostrom does.
He must have been nice.
That’s pretty cool. Thanks for sharing.
I emailed douglas hofstadter one time with a diagram of how consciousness works with an explanation.
He didn’t respond. So I sent him an email asking why he didn’t respond and he replied that his tme was finite and he didn’t have time to answer everyone’s emails. So much for trying
Try quora.com .there’s some verified professors
Do you guys understand CRISPR?
Enough to know it’s used for editing genes
That’s cool. I’m sorely tempted to email Dr. Lodge (the guy with the research on stem cells and schizophrenia) on account of the recent interviews with the tantalizing quote about using a drug instead of direct stem cell transplantation of PV interneurons. He said it might take 10 years or more, but the interviewer didn’t directly ask him did he have a drug candidate in preclinical? Insane minds want to know!
I think the research they do on it, will help them develop drugs that edit genes. There has to be a lot of laws in place though by what you can/cannot do when you consider editing genes. I do know polygenic means many, in a sense sz is a cluster of disorders. So yeah, there are specific sz genes, but they are kind of vague bc a lot contributes and depending if the gene gets methylated, demethylated, means if you your nervous system expresses it. Then you get into the whole nature vs. Nurture thing where nurture is the environment, and the environmental triggers play a role in developing sz, and early teatment psychosis can prevent the disease itself whether that be therapy/meds.
I emailed Fred Alan Wolf years ago and asked him about Jamais Vu. He said I should see a therapist I think lol.
One of the guys I emailed in a past life was Nick Bostrom. Since I lived countless lives, I’ve probably emailed 6-12 scientists in my past lives. For good reason, I don’t do it anymore…
How much do you remember from past lives?
Did that sound like garbage? I couldn’t even think of the process of planting a flower that a lil kid at a church service answered… My mind is absolutely fxcked!!!
I have hundreds or thousands of memories it seems but they seem scattered. Maybe it’s much less, I dont know…
I remember lots and i remember bits and pieces.
I remember mostly the negative stuff.
I barely talk about the positive stuff. The negative stuff outweighs the positive.
Someone on here emailed him awhile back, and he did respond.
why do you think you have these (false?) memories?
I believe they’re not false at all (only viewed as false in this universe). I believe I’m an anomaly and I remember being abducted by the greys in a past life and they said they uploaded my mind to a computer. I really don’t know though.
I don’t think that crisper uses drugs but instead stem cells
My psychiatrist said to cure schizophrenia you need genetic engineering; a virus that can change the DNA of every cell in the body. Might be 50 years, might be 500 years. He doesn’t know.
Do you have vivid dreams?
