Interesting. He’s a pHd not a MD.
Talking of cures, he thinks one is 5-10 years out.
Which would be great, of course. He likes CRISPR as a technology, but I don’t see how that would help on adult brains.
Maybe it’ll be some other technology, but since so many of the MDs seem to be pessimistic abut a cure soon, I thought it was interesting.

There is a lot of science-y news daily, and I can’t post links, but there is an article on this site about stem cell research in 2013, and I’d love to know where that is going.
Quoting the article:
"‘You can essentially fix the problem’
Unlike traditional approaches to treating schizophrenia, such as medications and deep-brain stimulation, transplantation of interneurons potentially can produce a permanent solution. “You can essentially fix the problem,” Dr. Lodge said. “Ultimately, if this is translated to humans, we want to reprogram a patient’s own cells and use them.”"
If they were doing trials with rats in 2013, when are the human trials? Potential for treatment in all kinds of neurodegenerative disorders, I would think.
