I am in the same boat. I drink Coke Zero Sugar all day :parrot::parrot::parrot:

yeah I’m told it’s bad for me too. I drink coke zero almost daily in large quantities. I’ve heard it actually doesn’t help you lose weight/stay thin as you crave sugar/food to make up for it. I dunno. I really like the taste by now.

Diet coke and sweetness showed the same insulin rise as normal coke and sugars. They work psychologically to your brain responding to sweetness and release the hormone. So you could gain weight with them too. The best thing to do is avoid sweetness even though it is very hard.

I have a bad diet pop habit myself. The artifical sweetner is bad for you. Its linked to brain cancer. I hear it also messes with your blood sugar. Possibly other reasons it’s bad for you too.

Yum! I used to do iced mochas religiously but now all I want is your basic coffee with cream.

Drink water, diet soda isn’t good for you, fake sugars aren’t good for you either.

Fake sugar is pretty awful for you. I don’t think it’s doing you any favors with your weight.

Fake sugar is as bad as sugar. I drink low sugar guava juice and it tastes amazing. Antioxidants, vitamin C and fiber.

Its not healthy, but neither is most of the stuff that people enjoy. I quit smoking, regular soda, alcohol, and am working on cutting back on sweets. If I cut out everything I enjoy then I will go bananas. Now diet soda can do some nasty things to you if you drink a lot of it.

What I do is add a few drops of those liquid water enhancers to water. You’re still getting some artificial sweeteners, but you’re also drinking more water. I believe that a drop or two of the water enhancers is quite a bit less than whats in a can of diet soda.

With all that being said, enjoy your soda. If you want to be more conscientious about your health maybe cut down to one can of diet soda and add in more water. A healthier alternative to adding a water enhancer would be to put a slice of fruit in some water or unsweetened tea. Stevia is a good low calorie natural sweetener.

Here is a blog post from Harvard that goes more into detail about artificial sweeteners. Keep in mind that this is not a peer reviewed article, but a Doctor giving a quick summary about artificial sweeteners. https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/artificial-sweeteners-sugar-free-but-at-what-cost-201207165030

You can find plenty of articles on the debate about if diet soda is OK to drink and how much is OK. I see the articles all the time about it but about 80% of the people who say it’s bad for you in studies, will qualify it and say that it is “probably” not good for you, or it “may” be bad for you. It seems no one is a 100% sure if it is unhealthy and those studies about how it actually makes you gain weight don’t seem a 100% sure of it either. All I can say, is “everything in moderation”. I never heard of anyone dying from aspartame.
