When Mick Jagger was in his mid-twenties he once told an interviewer: It’s ridiculous that all these old musicians don’t retire young when they should. I would consider my life is bad if I’m 40 years old and still singing, "I Can’t Get no "Satisfaction " onstage.
Hmm it depends on the song for me. I’m in the band at my school and when we’re playing a song I don’t like, rehearsing it a million times measure by measure does drive me a bit nuts. But if it’s a song I really like I don’t mind playing it over and over.
Playing music calms me down (when I don’t have any solos!) it’s one of the few relaxing things I have left.
I am old and I love playing the many songs I know…kind of like…accomplishment it feels to me.? I think this very thing is why Kurt decided to die…he didn’t want to grow old and be a musician.
I read an article recently where Rolling Stone interviewed Francis Bean Cobain. She thinks Kurt was overwhelmed and that he didn’t want to be the voice of a generation. She also said she doesn’t like Nirvana’s music, which I found odd and amusing at the same time.
We are in a unique musical “timezone” now. We went from Delta blues to dub step in what? 50yrs? It will be interesting to see how it all goes down.
Lately I can only listen to instrumental stuff like MMW, Garage A Trois … jazz or classical.
Lyrics have been weirding me out lately. I’ll equate a negative event in my life to a song and it will haunt my brain for longer than I’d like.
I love music and I do play though I’m not a gigging musician. If I did gig, it would be jazz for the sake of my remaining sanity.
