I didn't call the cops when maybe I should have

I just don’t want any trouble. I don’t want to get in the middle of a thing. Yesterday this woman was walking by and stopped to tell me about another woman that lives in the complex and how the man that she was letting stay at her place (against the rules) changed the locks (against the rules) and wouldn’t let her in her own apartment to have access to her purse, her money, her seizure meds. And apparently they had fought earlier and she went to sock him and he moved and she hit her kid instead so he called CPS and they came and took her kids away.

Well finally the cops were brought in on the mess and they got rid of the dude and trespassed him off this property. So the lady who was telling me all this said if you see him, call the cops. Well I was outside at 2 am smoking and he went walking by and asked for a smoke. I had to say no because I had only gotten one from my ex in case I really couldn’t take it anymore. He said ok and that he was having a hard time sleeping because it was too cold. And then he walked on down the road. He wasn’t on property so technically he was fine, but maybe I should have called, we’re at a dead end, what was he doing down here?

Anyone who would lock someone out of their own apartment needs to sleep in a park, or the Salvation Army, but he shouldn’t be allowed to take such advantage of anyone. But first of all, he needs to spend some time in jail. That kind of thing happens more than you’d think. Somebody will buddy up to someone in an apartment, then take up residence and refuse to leave. The best thing to do is go to the landlord. If they won’t do anything about it, go to the police, but they might not do anything about it too, unless the person has a record. Things like that are a shame.

Where I live, there is a domestic violence advocacy group that will help with the legal side of things, but it sounds like she already took care of the legal stuff and he is just blatantly breaking the law.

yes, and I guess he’s a known problem around here. I saw him down at mental health a month or so ago, he was yelling at the receptionist because she wouldn’t deliver a message to the Police Dept to leave him alone. He was scaring me. The receptionist, who is pretty new there, handled herself very well I thought.

If it is suspicious or it makes you feel unsafe, you are doing the right thing to call the police. Seems like it could be stalkish behavior.

Yes, the woman who was telling me about him had been semi-stalked by him in the past over her daughter, whom he once dated. That was before his true colors began to show.

She tried warning everyone who would listen that he was uber bad news but because she has a reputation as a gossip and a trouble maker many people did not heed her warning.

Sometimes i think when i would be a cop i had to work overtime. I come across so much crime its not funny anymore.

Bleh.
I had a friend pull a gun on me and tell me to drop my pants when we were drunk one night.
I threw a swing at him, but missed
I kicked him out and told him he was not welcome in my house anymore

Looking back, I should have called the police but I felt like he didn’t deserve 20+ years for attempted rape n murder (not that I believe those things should go without punishment, it’s that my friend has special needs)
Over something so stupid, I knew the guy would not make it in prison :frowning:
