I cut out alcohol all of November. Want to start on no Alcohol and no soda in December?

I haven’t touched alcohol in November. No cravings or temptation. I am a binge drinker so I’m pleased with the no drinking and feeling healthier. I want this to continue not drinking, small steps so doing December first. I want to stop drinking soda too as think I’ve increased the Coke and Pepsi drinking. This way I’ll lose weight as think I haven’t lost any in November.

I think I’ll find no soda the hardiest. Going to replace it with only 2 mugs of coffee a day.

Anybody else gave up alcohol and soda. Am I doing things too fast?

Sounds ok what you’re doing.

Great work dropping the alcohol.

I find a bottle of Bud every now and again is ok for taste.

Years ago my liver was in a bad way, but my GP monitored it whilst I stopped binge drinking and it recovered

I’m an alcoholic and have gone to AA meetings. I slipped and drank 19 days ago, but am back on the wagon. I’ve tried to stop caffeine with no luck. I drink a cup or two of coffee, but sometimes this doesn’t work. If I get a diet soda, that takes care of the problem. I feel better after drinking it.

Sounds like you have a good plan. Just take it one day at a time. You’ve got this.

Congratulations! I’m really proud of you. That’s hard, what you’re doing and you deserve a lot of credit. It’s natural to crave sugar when you quit alcohol. You are going for the dopamine rush. You may have a hard time giving up both at the same time, I’m not sure. But you can try. Just remember if you’re going to slip up, have it be a soda. As schizophrenics I think we are especially vulnerable to self medicating with things that alter our dopamine levels which adds difficulty to an already hard problem.

I haven’t heard that about sugar, but I did start drinking regular Mountain Few after I quit alcohol in 2016. It wasn’t good for my diabetes.
