Other animals, not just carnivores, on this planet also kill to eat. Many non-hunting birds are insectivores. Many animals are herbivores. Very few creatures eat only dead matter compared to the amount that eat living matter. Moreover, foods with high omega-3 content like fish have been shown by science studies to help reduce sz.

This reply may seem off topic, but bear with me: Chordy, plants do indeed have responses to people, and even our thoughts(or maybe it’s just intent). People who study and interpret plant responses have noted that when someone comes to prune branches, the plants are not stressed, but when someone comes with destructive intent(even cutting the same branch a pruner planned on cutting)the plant is stressed.
Because of this study that was done on plants I tend to believe that plants, and even animals, are “ok” when we consume them to live. Of course, we ought not be cruel in the taking of any life, but I think when we go into it with gratitude and thankfulness it is “ok.”
I love animals and I, too, had a lot of conflict in the past about consuming creatures I considered “friends.” But I came to terms with it due to my attitude of gratitude(as 12 steppers say)and also the knowledge that if we did not eat animals they would overpopulate and starve to death.
For instance, deer hunters(limited in number by states)keep deer populations to a manageable level. If deer herds are allowed to grow in number their available food supply, especially in winter, would diminish and many animals(not just deer)would die an agonizing death by starvation. A very ugly prospect.
Chordy, I’m kinda new, but you seem like a nice person, very caring and considerate. I wish I knew you in 3D life. We could go to McDonald’s or something.

Yes I often toy with the idea that I should not eat animals. But I was introduced to meat as a young child and it tastes so good. I dont think I could give it up now.
