Yesterday when my son in law was visiting with the grandbabies he checked his phone for his unemployment balance and he discovered that the account had been cleaned out by my daughter. She used her PayPal account which apparently was still linked to his account to take out many small withdrawals until the account was empty. He looked back over the last month and discovered that she had been taking money from him all along and it totaled $920. We called the police and they came over to look at the evidence and are filing charges with the DA for misdemeanor theft.
The only thing is my daughter told me 2 weeks ago that he had changed the password on all her accounts and locked her out of them. So is he more devious to set her up for theft or is she more devious to cover her ass if she got caught stealing his money?
He seemed genuinely shocked that the money was missing and she had taken it. When he confronted her she seemed like she wasn’t surprised by the evidence he presented. Then she seemed worried.
My daughter had stolen before. She stole my credit card and charged a lot of money on it when she was a teen. She stole my debit card and made purchases and got cashback when she was a teen. She used to steal a lot when she was little, got into all the keepsakes and whatnot. I pressed charges on her for the credit card theft to teach her right from wrong, but it didn’t take, a year later she burglarized a house and spent a year more in Juvenile Detention. So she has a history.
I can’t believe she’s stealing money from her own kids. My poor son in law, I feel so bad for him.
