I can read again!

Almost ten days sober…9 days ago I tried reading “5 people you’ll meet in heaven” and couldn’t get past page 3. Well I just sat down and started reading and thoroughly enjoyed 55 pages of great reading

I can read again!

Cool. I got a Kindle to try and rekindle (heh) my interest in reading. Haven’t read a lot yet but working on it.

I am quitting nicotine, this is day three, and I can’t read as well. I read several articles today, I should have had an easier time. I hope I get my concentration back and dont have to go back on the patch.

Just read “Doomsday Book,” a scifi by Connie Willis. I was really into it while I was reading it … a real page-turner.

I’ve gone through times when I couldn’t read at all. Pretty much all I did during my last stay at the hospital was stay in bed and read. And then I went through all the insanity over again and couldn’t read if I tried. I picked up a two volume history of the city I grew up in and got a hundred pages in before tiring of it…if it wasn’t on loan I’d definately finish it though.

I haven’t tried to read in a long time…I don’t know I don’t think I can. Maybe I should try again. I’m just so darn picky about what interests me. Last book I read was on Jimi Hendrix…maybe try that again something about music.?

Thanks Kazuma, like the new icon.

I’m not up to reading yet but I did start doing crossword puzzles. And I’ve been doing word search for quite awhile. So, I think I’m working up to it. I hope so. Good on you, turningthepage. You’ve really turned a page in your life.

right before I got put on meds I couldn’t even concentrate enough to read a sentence, let alone a forum or a book. The voices were just so loud and constant.

Im reading them right now definitely worth a read. Kazuma got any other fantasy authors to recommend I know the mainstay fantasy authors need more

Turning page what med’s are you on because I can’t read a thing…so I refuse to take my med’s! I can read and study at the expense of insanity.

I am a bookish person. In my 74th year, I only read books on Buddhism. My father was an American writer. I have to read with one eye closed a lot because my medication or stress make me see double. It is a wonderful feeling to know that you have enough patience and will to read again. Congratulations and best wishes, turningthepage, for a continuation.

I used reading as a coping method before I got ill. I’d read 3-4 books a week. Now I don’t have that compulsion to read everything. I miss it. Now it’s hard to concentrate and I don’t remember much of what I read. @martinhersey1 one of the APs I used to be on made my vision worse, sometimes I’d have to close one eye. Reading glasses helped immensely.

I don’t know anymore fantasy authors but theres this one author named Haruki Murakami who is really good like Norwegian Wood or Kafka on the Shore
