I can give up with work... with all that's gone wrong

But I keep applying, getting jobs and quitting… I feel like I should give up but something in me wants to keep going in hopes I will find something that I can actually stick to :frowning:

It’s hard.

I don’t work and I do well. Working 40 hours a week in the grindstone on medications just isn’t me anymore!

I did a compromise years ago. I decided to help my parents out and live at home. It costs you a little in social function…can’t bring girls home etc but I don’t go out anyways!

I’d love to work but it’s beyond me at the moment. I do volunteer work for a cricket club. I do a couple of half days a week just mowing the oval on a ride on mower…a job made for the mentally ill. …left turn…left turn…left turn…

It’s a hard cop. I am on disability here and that keeps me going…it’s not a great life but it’s doable if your patient and don’t expect too much…It’s still a strech to work.

Kudos to you for trying. But if it’s hard …check out disablity…check out lo stressed jobs. Process work was good for me…repetitive work isn’t so bad!

Dont give up. The next Job may be a keeper. Its líke a relationship. I have had plenty of short lived ones until i had met my wife and married her for 15 years now. Its líke you have to be ready and she too and share it. Similar with a Job. If you keep looking you will find. IF YOU DONT LOOK FOR IT, VERY LIKELY YOU DONT FIND IT EVEr.

Have you ever looked into supported employment stuff? I think they assign a case worker to you and they do stuff to help you keep the job.

I now have an employment support worker I’ve seen two times. Think she’s very helpful. I am in hopes that the next job will be better

I’ve had tons of jobs over my life span, took most of it to find the right fit

If you really do not have to work then it is also a good time to do something freelance?

I’m not sure what this means ? The main reason why I work is so I get some human contact … otherwise I’d be stuck at home the whole day … so although it makes me anxious … avoiding the situation and problem isn’t going to help me

I’m assuming you mean set up my own business ?

I mean if you are financially stable then you do not need to work. I meant you can focus on doing something you like maybe start a project or study something ?

@MissMermaid, Ohhh lol I’m financially stable but only because I have my Mum who I live with and who supports me. If I didn’t I would be screwed :frowning:

Depends then i guess if you need to support her too. Maybe she has a nice idea for you. I love working

Can probably be paid of in lump sum.

Normally once you start earning a certain amount it gets detected from your wages but I’ve not earned enough for it to start coming off my salary.

Plus after 25 years I don’t have to pay it back lol

They say that if you do what you love you never have to work a day in your life. I think that if I wasn’t mentally ill I would have enjoyed being a journalist.

You could write a blog instead

Don’t give up on finding a job that suits! Work is really important for recovery.

I got my first job after being diagnosed when I was about 22 years old. I’ve had about 20 different jobs since then. Some I excelled at. Others I failed miserably. Some jobs I lasted a week at. Other jobs I lasted four years. I got fired from at least ten of them. Sometimes I just simply stopped going and I got a call saying don’t bother coming back.

I am confusing myself with my own story. But my main point is to say that failing at one job, does not have to be a never-ending pattern for your future jobs. I often got fired at a job after a month and then my next job I would last three years. I would be the best worker at a job and at my next job I would be the worst.
