My cobbled together light show was a success. I’ve nearly got the wall wash units finished, so I can kick it up a notch for the next dance.

Tell me about it. Actually came down with a cold yesterday morning. Had to pound cold meds all day, but they ran out an hour before the dance did. I was pretty gross when I got home. Planning to spend today in the easy chair with lemon tea so I can put a dent in my Netflix queue.

Awesome job! How long have you been getting paid to be a DJ for? Does it pay well?
It pays about $500 for an evening. All of the equipment you see is worth about $3000. My music library is probably another $4000. The DJ biz isn’t to make money so much as it helps me write-off my podcasting hobby on my taxes. I also had two speakers with 18" woofers, a 4500W amp, and a small mixer rented out to a wedding party in the neighbouring town for $200 yesterday evening. I tend to make more on equipment rentals these days as most people have mixes they like on their iPods and they don’t need a light show.
Most of my income comes from photography and videography. Some contract writing, which is not as plentiful as it used to be. Most of my customers were in the U.S. and the American economy is severely depressed.

I can, but usually don’t do much. Not my style. It’s more hip-hop and I’m more dubstep.
