Trying to keep busy,

so basically i am trying to keep busy and have a routine every day,

i am also looking to make a bit of money here and there so i have been having some really good ideas…

  • so the first idea is hosting for people for money which is not classed as work but could be classed as earnings,

  • the second idea is dog hosting which is the same only a bit more unpredictable but i think it will help me get out and walk dogs if say they are staying 1 or 2 weeks and will make me a bit of money

  • third is hiring bikes, i was going to buy 2 ex hire bikes and hire them out myself which might make me an extra bit of money

so i am planning and thinking about doing things that i think i would enjoy that would also help me as well, i think it is a good idea and i think that if i need any help if i am doing college or whatever that my friend sweep can help me and it could help her as well.

despite all of that i have been busy in other ways like trying to get my kitchen and bathroom replaced, i want a Chromatherapy bath and i have recently fitted my own shower, i have had 1 guest stay and i am getting ready for more, i paid sweep to help me get it ready and she is my cleaner for my guests,

i have also been trying to switch my phone numbers so i can use my old number which everybody knows and trying to organise my college so i can get travel expenses, i also need a new bus pass.

so kept busy and having lots to think about, my anxiety med was upped recently but i got really sleepy so i had to cut it back down, my mental health is ok just now, having plenty of breaks and trying to relax as much as possible is the main thing.

The dog walking thing sounds really good. If you like cats too you can take care of people’s cats when they are away. I have to pay someone to come in and give mine food and water and change the litter. It’s not too difficult and they have a lot of freedom as to what time of day works best. I have one who will beg for attention so they play with him. The nice thing about this sort of business is that while it can be unpredictable you aren’t tied to someone else’s schedule all the time and can manage your own needs. If someone needs you to take care of their pet for certain days you can tell them you don’t have availability those days if you need to take some time for yourself. I know that where I live the vet and local pet supply stores have loads of people’s information on bulletin boards and stuff. You can make some business cards on vistaprint for about ten bucks and market yourself through friends and referrals and local pet stores.

It sounds promising. The sorting out details part could be a nice distraction. Good luck!

Good for you @asgoodasitgets

Those sound like good ideas… The dog walking I think is a hit… it will get you out and exercising and it’s low stress…

Good luck and I hope these ideas get off the ground for you.

Excellent advice guys and gals found in these forums, and in this thread. Those are all good ideas daydreamer, here is a bit of advice that may help you maintain your routine regarding self-employment. Try to keep a record of your earnings, if possible by personal check or bank transference. Cash is not so bad either, it would not be bad if you researched consumer provider employer tax deduction laws for your prospective producer. In fact, creating jobs even self-employed ones in many states reduces taxes for employers regarding on how many jobs were made and how long a person may have worked. To further retain a tax deduction, they may have to be charitable with items such as clothing or in your case possible doggy bags. Keep records of receipts, if you do not want to waste so much paper, invest in a smart phone if you do not already have one, download an app that scans items or brings up receipts. Take a picture of your purchase with at least your hand and where it was purchased. Then finally… pay taxes hah. However if you are receiving social security benefits in most cases, the advice mentioned in a prior statement are near moot. You can do it daydreamer!

thanks guys, my mum was really worried that i am making a mess of my benefits money and she is quite right, i really want to be honest and truthful, trustworthy regarding this, i hate lying or doing anything wrong but i have to say that i am rather lost when it comes to finances,

i have been told that what i am doing is not classed as work but it is classed as earnings so i am not even self employed but i am earning so i need to tell the proper people and work out an average and then that will come off of my benefits money but my DLA should not be affected and other things, i did a few calculations on the calculator and i think i would lose about £200 from benefits but i would be earning more than that i think, idk how its going to work but i really want to be legit.

It may be the right time for it or not - but you need a plan.

my brain is constantly ticking trying to think of things to do and this seems to fit in with what i want to do, i’ll get to meet lots of interesting people and watch some really nice dogs as well as maybe offering them some cycle hire, i just want my guests all to feel completely at ease and also make some money at the same time (hopefully for a car), i think my freind sweep will benefit from this as well.
