I haven’t worked since Oct 7, 2012 and I applied for full time work. I truly am crazy. No seriously, I can’t afford to work part-time. I need benefits. I’m pretty sure I can do it. It will be hard at first but I’m strong and it’s an easy job. So wish me luck that they even call me.
Best of luck
I hope it all works out for you
You got this. 151515151
Jumping into full-time is a big step. I became employed again through a series of small steps. You may succeed, I hope you do. When I got back to work I started off part-time and worked my way up to full time. But from what you say, you apparently don’t have that luxury.
I, too is looking for work - the restaurant who said they would call me has not yet - so I’m bugging another place for hopefully 30/hours week @ $9.00 plus tips bussing tables …
I know it doesn’t seem like much but hey it is work and on top of SSDI I can get myself a car!
Sounds like a plan.
Good luck, friends!
This was the case for me too
Good luck, @Leaf.
I’ve been looking for employment, as well. Something part-time, though. Good luck @Leaf! You can handle it
Good luck! What will you say is your reason for not working all that time?
I don’t know. The last job I got knew I was mentally ill and hired me anyway. Prior to that I hid my disability in “relocation” and in taking time off to “raise my family”. I guess I will just be honest and say I have a disability that I’ve recovered from. I can’t think of any other way to disguise it. An eight year gap is hard to explain.
Yeah. But I think you have good excuses. They might ask you what the disability is so prepare for that in the interview. Anyways, I was just curious in case I return to work. I need to figure out what I’m going to say. Good luck on the job search!
Thank you. Are you thinking of going back too?
That’s great to hear @Leaf, congrats !
Thanks @anon57786250
I was going to try. But then I went to Walgreens and one of the men’s friends followed me in there and was laughing to himself about me. He knew everything. I didn’t know what was going to happen. I left right after I saw him.
I see, so you’re kinda struggling a bit
Yeah. I’m too scared to work.
