I am thinking about going completely Japanese in acting and everything else

Maybe you could take on a volunteer program in Japan to get a real taste of their culture? There are lots of volunteer projects on the internet…

I am going to work on the arts in Japan and a lot of other things.

The first time I tried sushi back in '87 I thought the wasabi was guacamole and put a big piece in my mouth. Tears poured out and I almost threw up.

Americans hate being american.

Japanese hate being japanese.

The english hate being english.

And so on and on until everyone is accounted for.

If all of the yards are brown and rotten then why does it look greener from the other side?

I don’t know if that’s true.

@anon59133895, do whatever you feel most comfortable doing, as long as it’s not hurting others, what harm is it? I’m fascinated with the Japanese culture, even Chinese…but never felt like fully emerging myself into it.

@mussel, I love that song turning Japanese, I was thinking of posting it but now that I see it already on here, I don’t want to do it again…

X3 thanks, bro or brodette.

@pansdisease Like the song by green day says, “Don’t wanna be an american.” ^^ I just hate what this country is becoming. So I am gonna start a revolution ^^ sorta :\

Ha, im ambiguous! Guy, girl, can’t tell! Maybe im both!

It isn’t only americans who feel this way, it’s everyone. We’re over here saying that and most japanese are over there saying that about their country. And every single generation states repeatedly “what is this becoming.” as if it weren’t a total piece of blank the whole time.

What would be funny is if you said “i am thinking about going completely canadien in acting and everything.”

No one ever wants to be canadien for some reason.

I’m proud to be Canadian

Im not saying it’s bad to be canadian, i would love to see canada actually, i hear it can be breathtaking.

My point was that you never hear young people saying things like that where i live, never. It was more of a stab at us than you.

I apologize for the misconceptions, the earth is wrought with them.

My brothers wife is Canadian and she is also proud to be Canadian…I think my brothers a little proud to be Canadian himself and he’s not even a citizen of Canada yet…he chose Canada over moving to the desert to study ice pockets on Mars because he could ski and snowboard in Canada…and he’s always been a bit of a self loathing American lol.

I didn’t take offence. You are right. I don’t hear anyone except Canadians say I want to be Canadian :sunny:

Doesn’t make sense much of the time, not to me anyway.

Japan only just recently made certain types of child porn illegal. They even have an entire forest set aside for suicides in which people are forced to end their lives because their society has major problems.

And your health care system sounds fantastic compared to some, not saying who or anything, wouldn’t want to offend anyone and their horrible health care systems because they are the best country ever.

If you are going to “go Japanese” I would at least take the time to learn at least some of the language - their cuisine, their culture - you might find it fascinating or then again you may get bored of it. Acting Japanese just because you find it to be cool, is not the way to go in my opinion - I am sorry I see that in your original post, it states that you studied some of thier culture, customs already. Then in that case I say go for it!

yeah I said “just don’t be weird about it” because the only kid I knew who was obsessed with ancient Japanese warrior culture went on to get involved in the BDSM scene and is now in prison without parole for the rest of his life. True story.

We used to have to carpool to school together.

Really want to go japanese?

Then you must work your entire life for next to nothing in return.

The real japan. The majority of japan that is.

I know you’re amale, Pan.

I am part canadian and I am glad to be one.

There is a word for americans who are obessed with Japanese stuff and behave/dress/eat like Japanese people- the term is “otaku”.

I am a bit of one, as I really like anime and Japanese food, so are two of my friends, they are actually a lot more like an otaku than I am.

But that sounds a little extreme to

And being a samurai warrior is not a real occupation anymore so I have to vote no on that. The closest thing to being a samurai would be becoming a mercenary, and they don’t take people with psychotic disorders. I wrote a paper on Japanese samurai a long time ago, they were interesting but in reality they were all cold blooded killers. Their form of zen involved not feeling guilty for killing other people. They did whatever their lord told them to do. They were not peaceful, they lived for war and to die in combat was the greatest thing for them. They would commit sepuku (disemboweling themselves) if they were dishonored, and that meant losing a battle among other things. To have your head cut off was a privilege.

Stick to anime and eating sushi. lol
