My husband drinks and smokes himself to death causing health issues. When I try to bring it up he yells at me and I want to cry. I don’t want him to die young.

I am sorry @Briteeyez How old is he? Because although terrible for you these things, a lot of people drink into their 50’s or later and then quit and live a bit longer

They have to be ready on their own to get help. Alcoholics.

He’s 48 I’m 49 I want to go before him

He will drink till it kills him. He’s stubborn

All I’ve ever heard is that the idea to get sober has to come from him and that means you’re going to have to develop ways to reach him. If one way doesn’t work, try another. Isn’t there AlAnon or something like that?

He went to the doctors today for pain in his legs. I bet it’s due to his drinking like diabetes

I can’t reach him. He has a lot of anger in him and it’s ugly when his anger comes out

Sorry you are going through this, not sure how you do it though, I don’t even like being around drinkers anymore

I used to drink but quit because I wanted to be a positive example for my kids. So I quit. Never a heavy drinker before

I doubt it will change, something drastic usually has to happen before someone quits a bad habit, and even then sometimes they just get worse, have you considered leaving for awhile and telling him you not coming back till he gets a grip on it?

When we were getting married he quit drinking. When he found out his mother wasn’t coming to the wedding he started up again. I wish he would of stayed sober. Then I would only worry about his smoking

I have No family to turn to plus my husband will choose his drinking over me any day

Don’t know what to say then, you only have one life and living it like that is really bad. I hope you can find a way to resolve it

I’m going to let his body tell him to quit. When his liver goes out or something drastic happens then maybe he will listen then
