How to cure anosognosia?

Is there a way to cure anosognosia? I still struggle with it.

Yeah, IDK. Mine mostly vanished with medication.

I could be wrong, but to me, it seems more like you wish you weren’t sz, than have a lack of insight about it. Maybe a bit of denial because you wish it wasn’t true?

Is that not correct?

I’ve never heard you deny your sz in the past. I don’t remember a single topic about you saying “I’m not sz, I’ve been misdiagnosed!”, or anything like that. Unless of course, you have been keeping this secret doubt hidden from us.

Yea but isn’t that in itself a bit of anosognosia?

I dunno. There may be subtle differences. I think wishing something wasn’t true because you are not willing to accept it, would not be the same as being unable to see it, because you just cant. I think denial is a choice, which you can change on your own.

You make a good point though. They are similar.

I think denial is more of a refusal to see something because it is unpleasant for you, even though deep down you know its true.

I mean denial in the psychological sense.

" Denial. Denial is a defense mechanism proposed by Anna Freud which involves a refusal to accept reality, thus blocking external events from awareness . If a situation is just too much to handle, the person may respond by refusing to perceive it or by denying that it exist."

Kind of like how I am in denial that smoking can give me cancer. Deep down I know its a fact but I try to wipe the possibility of it from my conscious mind as I take another drag.
