I had an AA sponsor who once talked about someone “not being on the beam and not knowing they were not on the beam because they’re not on the beam.” A lot of the time an unmedicated thinks they are on the beam and everyone is trying to push them off.

I wouldn’t say ‘severe’ it’s just the over-arching thought of not
wanting to be different,
or think you’re not like everyone else
or living with a label.
With my daughter’s CF, we lived in healthy denial,
I wanted her to be able to do anything,
have a relatively normal childhood.
