I get SSD I only get $550 a month. Idk why, I anticipated it being $1000. Also it varies, some months I get $600, some months less…but typical is $550

No just SSD but I have a very supportive family so I’m lucky. If I was homeless I’d be way more pissed off. I’m only 24. Also I’m searching for a job. I can work.

You can’t get both. They deduct ssi from ssdi.

SS might give that if you worked most of your life and at good wages…mostly it’s more around $1,100 a month …
SSI is currently $733 a month.
That amount can be less on SSI if you have other income sources, or living with parents who pay most of your bills.
When I was 38, homeless and broke when I set myself on a quest to get my own property and pay cash, and build my own house, paying as I go, so no loans, mortgage, credit…blah… I did that at age 43…it’s a really good goal to set and accomplish…imagine, no rent, no mortgage or bank loans, no credit card bills…just utilities and minimal property taxes. My annual expenses on those are about $2000 a year…
And I remember spending that in 2 months when apartment living…
Unable to work sucks and I’m not sure how you would go about it if you couldn’t work as the system with SSI and disability has you limited on bank assets, so it would be hard to save $10,000 to get land…
If you get SSI you can also get housing assistance but it’s a waiting list, especially if you are a single guy… usually families with kids get top priority and even they sometimes have a year or more wait…
Is there any possible way you could work, even for a few years?

I went through that too…I found a few things I could fit into with cool people and cool bosses. I’'m not going to make this a religious thread but prayer works. i dont know how many times I begged and even demanded of God for the right work, and the ability to save money and get my own place.
I was a whistleblower on 3 companies, 2 of which closed down, and i won settlements from 2…not exactly the perfect reference when filling out an application…sometimes i felt like writing on the app why they shouldn’t contact previous employer

I thought so . There’s evidence online they they do that whistleblowing kind of thing and spy and refer to the agencies who have jurisdiction over domestic issues
I’m on SSDI and get around 1,300 bucks a month.
My last employer never paid their taxes proper because they never did inventory. Then when I got arrested i thought it was my duty to whistleblow on the police officers who were handing drugs to inmates back when I was arrested in 2006
