I believe the amount of money you get for that is very small. From what I hear a lot of time benefits are barely enough to live on…not like the gov is doling out million dollar checks.
my govt money equates to not being able to support me and my wife. total check per month is $450 dollars less than what my mortgage costs per month. Not allowed to work and not paid enough to do anything but be flat broke all the time. They wont even let me save money and eventually get more than $2000 in my bank account without reducing my benefit. its a cruel game they play. but hey its something i guess, just wish i could work again and make real money but i dont think i can work a regular job anytime in the near future, Hopefully my book is a hit when i get it published, fingers crossed!!

High cost of living makes typical wages look pretty small here. Lots of people struggle to make ends meet in america.

its not much but i feel terrible for you @far_cry0 i wish you could get government help. i get 735 a month and 705 of goes to my in laws for rent. i made mediocre pay when i worked at walmart but at least i had a job.
since my wife is sick and not working we had to have her mother and her boyfriend move back into the house to help pay the costs. otherwise we would have been homeless this month, now between all of us we still need to repay all past due and get caught up. its really difficult. my mother in laws boyfriend is on ssi disability also so we dont have a ton of money coming in. just barely enough to pay utilites and costs while trying to catch up, they give you barely anything at all,
just to give you an idea, when i was working, i made twice my monthly benefit per week. so im now living on half of my old weeks pay to cover me for a month, its left us in a financial disaster.
Far cry do they have any kind of social security retirement there? Or do you have to work when you are like 100?

My wife and I both work hard. We barely make ends meet. The cost of living is just getting too high. Its rediculous. We also have two inlaws living with us and living off us. We are five people living from two wages. But i dont want to complain too much…

I am on SSDI and live with my Dad (at 48). I wouldn’t be able to survive if I didn’t. My little check would be barely enough to rent a room and pay for car gas and food. Thank, God my Dad took me in. I am SO grateful. Sucks to be poor and many mentally ill people are poor.

You must be kidding me. I was on £10 an hour 35 hours a week. Now tell me how I can afford a £500,000 house.
