How much do I feed my cat?

I’m kind of new to this.
My cat is very petite.
She’s about 11 months old and now must weigh around 6 pounds.

I’ve been feeding her 6 ounces of fancy feast wet food a day.

A 3 ounce can in the morning and 3 ounce can in the evening. So twice a day.

On some days I’ll include about 1/3 of dry food as a night time snack.

I’m afraid I’m giving her too much food.

I don’t want to make her obese later on.

How many ounces of wet cat food should I be feeding her?

Please help!

PS I’m going to take her to the Vet soon but really need to know now.

Thanks!

Congratulations on your cat.

I researched age and calories - to measure out exact calorie intake to maintain a healthy weight.

If she is putting on weight you are probably doing okay. As far as numbers go each cat can have a different appetite so it is hard to pin down a number.

Cats generally do not overeat like dogs though they certainly love to nibble throughout the day.

I bet you are doing just fine as a slave to your cat.

I give my cat a moderate amount of dry food every evening. He know he usually doesen’t get more before the next evening so he actually seems to save food for later. Sometimes I give him wet food extra though.

Seems to work at holding his weight stable. Mine is about 4 years though. A kitten or young cat is supposed to grow so might need more then.

Kittens need more than adults.
