Cat food dilemma…Help!

@anon4362788 @anon55031185 and other cat lovers.
I’m having trouble feeding my cat.
She is becoming extremely picky when it comes to her food.
She has been eating Fancy Feast wet cat food, different varieties forever.
It’s basically the only food she will eat.
But lately she will either walk up to her food, sniff it then walk away or she’ll eat some of the food and leave the rest on her dish.
This is becoming a problem for me because it’s a waste of food and money.
She is healthy otherwise, full of life and being her playful self.
Her stools are normal.
I really don’t know what to do, she is also becoming picky with her dry food but that’s a new food that I bought for her.

She seems healthy to me but she has a Vet appointment next week anyway

You may be over feeding her. Let her decide how much she eats. Also, she should be eating more dry food than wet food. Fancy feast is fine but I think it contains fillers that fill up their tummies fast. I would only use fancy feast like once a day.

She might be having dental problems. My dog did this when she was

Yes thanks @anon55031185
Many times she’ll eat the majority of her wet food but she will leave some uneaten food left in her dish.

I don’t feed her a lot as is.

She is very petite for an adult cat

I’m afraid I’m under feeding her

I’ve tried other wet food brands but she refuses to eat them

Ok thanks @Moon
She sees the Vet next week
I’ll ask her

Yah, we have a cat that refuses to eat any wet food except Sheba and it has to be the cuts not pate. Ugh. The portion size may be too big. Is it a can, or portion sized? If she is petite, that’s just going to be her size. She’s not going to grow more at her age, so she’ll just get fat. All I’m saying is don’t overfeed her.

This is what I feed her, but different flavors.

She gets one small tub in the morning and one tub in the evening.
Overnight I give her 1/3 cup of dry food

I feed her small tubs they are less than 3 ounces
One each, so two tubs all day and then dry food at night

Okay. That seems enough. As long as she isn’t vomiting and her stool is fine, she is prolly fine. But ask vet anyway.

Ok I won’t over feed her
She’s very petite so maybe she needs smaller amounts of food.

Thanks @anon55031185 @Moon and @Loke

Buy a container of chicken livers. They love that!

I agree with those who said you should take her to a vet. Good that you already have an appointment.

I’m thinking that there is something wrong with the food.
With some cans, tubs she’ll approach her dish sniff the food and walk away.
When I give her a new batch she happily eats most of it.

@Wave

Cats are like us, they get tired of the same thing. I’d buy some very small bags of different foods to try. Sometimes stores carry bags that are only 1 or 2 meals worth.

Wet food is ok, but she really should be eating at least 1 service dry per day for tooth health.

Cats seem to love Temptations treats. Maybe if you give her a few every time she finishes a meal she will associate meal time with “dessert”.

Small servings are ok. As @anon55031185 pointed out,as long as she is active, drinking water, bright eyes and healthy coat, she’s fine. If she stop drinking water or refuses to eat at all, seek vet care right away.

@anon4362788 Yup! Mine won’t eat the same flavor two days in a row.
