I was hospitalized 5 times. 3 at one hospital which kept giving me wrong meds and 2 at another hospital which helped me more than the other

Twice. Once at age 18, but I was barely 18, so I was put in the juvenile psych hospital. And once at age 26; I was in a pretty good hospital, other than the fact they didn’t know how to take care of a type 1 diabetic. That part was incredibly stressful.

5 times for me and quite a few 24 hour holds in the local crisis center. All in about a year and a half. Now only been to crisis twice since then and not overnight. But i have some type of service every day Monday through friday.

They charged me plenty last time I was in there for a week I avoid that place.
I have lost count, but not been to one since 2018 thankfully.
Can’t stand those places
Was in the ER for an overdose in 2020, but they thought it would be counter-productive to admit me to a psych ward based on my history there
Not so sure I’d be as lucky again, as my nurse has retired, and I have no one who would advocate for this treatment of me

I’ve been around 41 times in 35 years. It is no longer a solution. It stopped working. They need to improve. I recently wanted to “retire” to a permanent facility feeling like I’d totally lost my mind, but there’s no such place here in the USA anymore, they closed them all down, they are only for the criminally insane now. I’m forced to take care of myself and not fall apart, which is a good thing.
2002 - 1st admission to psychiatric ward in the city hospital.
2009 - 2nd admission to psychiatric ward in the city hospital.

14 times in about 7 different hospital in 2 different states longest time not in hospital was 6 years then last year i had psychotic episode and ended up back in. i would say about half the admits were helpful and half not so.
3 weeks in 1993 at a private hospital, and then the maximum 2 week stay at a crisis stabilization unit at my area’s community service board, back in October 2014.
