I’d say I’ve been hospitalized about 15 times, which seemed like a lot until I met someone who said they’ve been hospitalized about 35 times! How about you? And do you think it helped much?
I’ve been hospitalized about 15 times too. only once for a 6 month stay in a state hospital that was complete hell, but i’ve been in private psych wards about 13-14 times
Wow, I can’t imagine a 6-month stay. Congrats on surviving that!
thank you, it was hard. I even got one of my 12 year molars knocked out by a tech there with a roll of quarters. He had raped the woman in the room next to me, and I heard it all. so the next time i saw him i decked him, and he hit me with the quarters. hurt like hell, and knocked me unconscious. I don’t really share that story with people, but i feel safe here.
Wowwww. Yes you sure did go through hell.
I know I probably shouldn’t condone physical violence, but I feel like saying good for you for decking the guy! He probably thought he could get away with that one unscathed.

Approximately 10 times. My shortest was for three days, my longest for 8 months.
8 months?! Man I’m never going to complain about my relatively short stays again – about 4 weeks was my longest.
Do you feel like they helped you much?
They gave me medication that probably stopped me from getting worse. That’s how they helped me.
yes the private stays all helped me. the way my mom put it was sometimes i just needed to check out for a while, and go to the hospital. It was more than just checking out, i really needed it. at times were suicidal, attempted it twice, first time i was clinically dead for a minute or two, and woke up in the hospital with charcoal being shoved down my throat to get me to throw up the codeine and ibuprofen. I was 15 then, im a month away from 29 now.
3 or 4 times, first time was the initial diagnosis when i was sectioned for a month and put on meds, second time was when i had severe side effects from a med that traumatised me, third was not too bad and fourth was because i had an ulcer and it drove me mad and i was treated for both in the mental hospital.
I have been in hospitals for 2 times about 4-6 weeks. One was hell another was better with better facilities and programs.
Yeah I’ve more or less tried to commit suicide about four times (those days are kind of a blur). Once I even had the plastic bag around my head and elastic around my neck, but it was just too horrible feeling like I couldn’t breathe, so I stopped. But mannnnn, being dead for a minute or two?! That’s really something.
Anyway, I’m glad you’re okay now (or at least alive)!

I’ve been in hospital three times (longest stay was 4 months), plus day-hospital twice, a crisis house twice, a police cell for 18 hours and two weeks in the psychiatric wing of a prison.

That’s the first time I’ve ever heard of a psych wing of prison. How was it?
Annnnnnd, what did you do to get into prison, you naughty thing? Lol. Do tell! 
The care in there was excellent, even though the officers weren’t trained mental health nurses. I had one-to-one attention, 24 hours a day.
How I ended up there is a long story. Basically, I was arrested standing outside my flat front door, holding a pair of scissors. This was because I thought neo-nazis were invading my block of flats.
Then, in the police station, I needed the loo. There was no toilet paper in the cell and the police were refusing to speak to me, as I was being verbally abusive to them. So I used the index of their Arrest Procedures Handbook to wipe my arse.
I was up in court the next day for possession of a bladed weapon and criminal damage of a book and got remanded for 3 weeks.
