Umm I think 8 years total, the first year was developing the disease before psychotic break, in 21 now.

When I was 18 I was hospitalized during a psychotic break for a couple months and diagnosed with psychotic depression. Was on AP’s and AD’s and relatively stable for several years so I went off them with my doctor’s help. Then spent the next year and a half in and out of hospital after hospital, med after med, trying to break out of psychosis. Was finally diagnosed as schizophrenic then. So not sure if the sz started when I was 18, or if it really was just psychotic depression that later developed into sz.

I’m convinced now I always had it i.e. since birth. I was always a bit off in my thinking looking back. But that could just be a case of looking at the past through the lens of the present.

Dxed at 23 now am 34. But perhaps all started when I was younger. I know my senior year of high school I was so depressed I was hardly ever there so much so they started threatening to send a truancy officer. I guess my alcoholic parents had other things going on.

Diagnosed at 45 years. Initially they thought it was Acute Depression with Psychotic features, but later changed diagnosis to Schizophrenia. I am 51 now, so that is 6 years.

I started having psychotic symptoms in 1994, had my first actual psychotic break in 2003, and the diagnosis schizoaffective was first used in 2004 or 2005.
