Lately I haven’t been getting as much protein as I usually do, and I’ve been losing physical strength. But the last time we went to town I found a place that sells nothing but chicken, in many different guises. I got a large bag of precooked chicken legs, and they’re delicious. Also, they have a lot of protein.
My protein consumption is in form of eggs and beans nowadays, which I’ve increased on. Also soya milk and porridge, and peanut butter on bread. I’m vegetarian
That sounds very healthy, and highly ethical.
I get between 55 and 70g of protein per day. It would be better if I got to 70 everyday. But I still think I’m ok the way it is
I’m trying to get more protein. Today I had mussels in white wine. Which were nice. Also getting some beef cartilage gelatin powder to put in veg soups for added protein. Also supposed to be good for hair etc. Tastes nice in soup. But can add it to orange juice with a dash of salt apparently lol. Also switched over to skimmed milk as its apparently got a better calcium to phospherous ratio… and higher protein. Didn’t realise had to eat so much of the stuff. Depending on body weight. I’m quite tall so think i need more than i thought.
That’s very healthy. Lately I’ve been getting less protein than that, but I can change my diet if I want to. Protein doesn’t just build muscle. It keeps your blood sugar stable too.
Yea @crimby. I used to have diabetes so I’m all about blood sugar control
I think I’m holding my own…
I’m kind of living off organic fruit atm.
It’s cos I like it.
So my protein intake is currently low. It’s OK imo, I have eaten tonnes of cheese in recent weeks.
And it is just a temporary phase.
Later I will add more protein
i eat alot of beef and chicken and shrimp so i get plenty of protein
I tried an all fruit diet before…the lack of protein caused me unstable mood lol I just try to eat a bit of everything now. Had a big steak last night lol was so good
I just recently developed allergies to my two main sources of protein, both milk and eggs. I had been having increasingly worse and worse allergy attacks after eating and couldn’t quite figure out the culprit so my doc did some tests. I was floored and thought what am I going to eat, I don’t do well with meat. Well, I’ve been getting ham for sandwiches, I have tuna that I can throw into a salad, I’ve stocked up on all different nuts and seeds that I can throw into salads, I adapted a Thai curry recipe that utilizes chicken that I really like, I like chicken for other meals also, I’ve made beef stew and really enjoyed it. Me and my sister are having a weekly bbq and having burgers. So I’m finding dairy and egg free ways to get that protein, in fact the tuna and chicken are lower in fat, the seeds and nuts are a healthier fat and the beef is usually just once a week so I think the protein is leaner for the most part and healthier than all that dairy I was eating. Anyway, I’m losing weight.
You can get foods that have a LOT of protein compared to other types of protein providers. Tuna is very high in protein per calorie if it isn’t packed in oil. Any kind of meat, once it’s defatted, is very high in protein per calorie. Parmesean cheese is high in protein per calorie, but it is expensive. Beef jerky is very high in protein, but it is expensive too. You would probably want to check the sodium in some of these foods before you made them part of your diet.
Oh I love tuna too. I get a special tuna that is safe to eat frequently. It’s pole caught, mercury tested, albacore. It’s wonderful. It’s about $4 per can but that’s not bad for a high quality protein. But with the egg allergy that means no more mayo and I’ve always mixed my tuna with mayo. Now I’m on a quest to find a good vegan mayo to go with my tuna. Talk about an odd couple.
That’s okay. People have different tolerances for different eating habits. I’m just sick of protein atm cos been over indulging in it recently. Stake sounds good!
I take one Black edition Huel shake daily. I think 1 shake is 40+g of vegan protein.
I think it’s a great way to lose weight, save money and get some xtra protein.
Protein shakes for meds - twice a day.
Inbetween either skip or eat non carb low calories.
I think I am getting too much proteins.
I am not sure that is possible.
Lol true…that’s very true. I think I have a decent amount of muscle that I have to maintain. I think men require more protein so I don’t think I could do without it. I saw some people who are only fruit before… Nuts are a good thing to add if you are doing that.
