How is racism in your country

It’s hard to not say something stupid. If I were to even ask my black family members “do you want me to call you black?” they would be pretty offended. It would be as if I look at them like an outsider that doesn’t belong or doesn’t fit in. It would be pretty dumb for me to say.

Yes, this world distinguishes people by their skin color, which is not only unscientific but also irrational. And you can not say that everyone is bad because one person is bad Every nation and every Where has good people and bad people.

Yeah. Even still, people like to pull people into “their group” because they say things that they agree with, even if the person isn’t ultimately apart of their group. “Black guy said jews take all the money, and I agree with him” - said the very obvious Neo nazi.

There’s a lot of racism in Australia. We have a history of it. I don’t like it.

Herein israel too, there is racism in Israel mainly towards Arabs, the rights, which are mainly religious people dont like arabs. For example, a smelly Arab can hear or Arabush, which is an insulting term, as far as they are concerned, they should not have any real rights, while the lefts opposes racism. They support human rights and equality. , Support the gay community,
There are many quarrels between right and left,
The situation here is very complicated and terrible
I try not to mess with it at all and hate rasisem’ wish humans will larn to live together

It’s alive and well. :worried:

We don’t have racism in Serbia but we have plenty of xenophobia and ethno-nationalism.
For example nobody thinks black people are inferior genetically but still hate them because they are foreigners.

Before wars and economic catastrophes, people were more prone to solidarity with everyone and especially African blacks, but also Arabs and other from the “non-aligned movement”. We were more open to differences. Whole country had soul.
And it’s not just my subjective feeling, progressives usually say that “Serbia lost system of values” and it’s true. I don’t like my country because of that, and what’s worse i really see no hope for things getting better in my lifetime. There is too much poison around us. Serbia is in a state of hate and fear.

Violence and poverty corrupts hearts.

Yeah, I don’t get why people break things down based on nationality/race/skin tone. There’s a thousand legitimate reasons to dislike people without those cosmetic differences.

Racism is alive and well in the US. It doesn’t only exist by the numbers or according to statistics, it exists in people’s minds and like Obama said, its in our very dna. I think it has roots in the socioeconomic as well as geographical, linguistic and religious divides which exist. People are scared of that which they don’t understand. It’s that simple. But its mostly ignorant people who have the most extreme views, sort of like lower rung whites who are afraid of their jobs being taken by Mexicans and other immigrant groups. I don’t want to throw around offensive terms as I’ve seen done earlier in this thread as I don’t want my comment flagged.

But generally, its a primitive mindset, based on instincts we have which make us want to be tribal and disparage and kill rival groups. You may not know that in areas like sub saharan africa and southeast asia where many dark skinned people live, there is also racism, based on tribal affiliations or a very generally accepted caste system. Wherever people who are different are forced to live next doir to each other, negative attitudes often arise.

So racism exists most everywhere, even among people who superficially have the same physical appearance. There is racism in latin america, east asia, just about anywhere you go. It’s not about skin color, this is just a convenient way people discriminate. Language, dialect, socioeconomic statius and so on are all ways people discriminate between who they will treat a certain way or another way.

Some argue that racism in general was invented by caucasian people. This argument is very silly, and in fact misguidedly eurocentric.

As a matter of fact, in the US there used to be many divisions between the original european immigrants from which many americans on this forum descended. In some areas the irish were considered untouchables, while the italians or the germans were also discriminated against in other areas and so on.

Strangely enough, currently these people have united under a common banner “white” while historically they were divided and often hated and persecuted each other over their percieved dissimilarities.

Racism exists in our minds and hearts. It is a feature of the human brain, a relic of human evolution.

Homo sapiens are essentially hairless apes, occasionally murderous, which have mastered some limited forms of technology. Nothing more.

As a consequence of living in different climates and being too stupid to discover how to migrate quickly back from where we came we are different shades of brown. This is not the root of racism, but these superficial differences are often used to explain the ignorant and sometimes harmful actions of human beings.

So, I believe racism is a human instinct. Just like how some people hate those who are rooting for the opposite football team to the point that they are willing to commit murder over their percieved differences. Where logic has failed tribalism and racism become the default modes of thinking.

I changed my views after I read Native Son. But here in Minnesota the Native Americans get the ■■■■ end of the stick unfortunately, at least in my area.

I used to think ill of other races because of a few run ins from the past but I realize more people of my own race pissed me off than others yet I don’t hate my race so ultimately I was being the worst form of hypocrite.

Here in the U.S. it’s becoming a lot more “out in the open.” And frankly that frightens me. My family is very multi-ethnic.

I am multi-racial, but often times the whites think I’m white, yet others can often tell I’m mixed with something.

I don’t wear my background on my sleeve, but I am not ashamed of it either.

Not too long ago neo-nazis were marching in the streets.

Maybe it’s my paranoia, but it’s definitely a scary time to have Mexican descent.
