I hate living where I do now, Its no better than kentucky or anywhere deep south where I used to live. Why the fúck do white people have such a fücking problem with other ethnicities???
White people really took over the world and have the audacity to hate a different skin color than them??? Fùcking ridiculous how they cant help conquering and making other people bow down to them I guess :)
Oh but they go anywhere in the world like mexico or hawaii and get a taste of their own medicine and can’t fūcking handle it goddamn pussïes.
Also love how my job is in jeopardy because if I even speak out against this type of shït they can fire me for being “problematic” and the systemic racism in the fūcking country will allow them to get away with it if I challenge them hajah
I’m sorry if you are experiencing racism. What specifically happened?
Condemning an entire race doesn’t make me particularly warm towards your comment however. I’m white and I’ve never conquered or made anyone bow down to me.
Hey, @ZanyNotStoopid. I’m white, and while I’m sure I have prejudices, I don’t have a problem with other races. I don’t and never will know what it’s like to be black or be scared at a routing traffic stop like black people are. I will not even pretend to understand, because I don’t and can’t. I’m from Texas, but I lived outside of Atlanta for a while, and everyone hated everyone. I’d never experienced anything so… blatant. The problem wasn’t that people hated ME. The problem was that people assumed that, because I was white like them, I’d agree with their backwards thinking about other races.
I worked at a spiffy fast food place with a mostly black crew. I had so, so many people trash talk my very nice co-workers to me right in front of said co-workers. I’d get mad, really mad. I liked my co-workers, some of them as close friends. They’d tell me to keep my mouth shut, to smile and nod because it didn’t matter- they were used to it. But it DOES matter. They shouldn’t have to be quiet and listen to that. I think hearing their acceptance of the way things were then (it’s been, like 15 years, but I bet it’s just as bad if not worse) was what broke my heart. I know that people will hate, but that felt they had to just shut up and listen to that… wrong. So, so wrong. In Texas, we could have refused them service. I don’t know what the law was/is in GA, but I was told not to do that when I first tried.
There are a lot of protests and stuff in the city (I’m not too far from Philly). I am scared to check the news because I don’t want to read about more cops killing or hurting people, but I’m just as scared not to know what’s going on. My husband tells me what’s happening usually. Not all cops are bad, but… my husband told me about this thing he read or saw. Saying most cops are good at their job isn’t acceptable. People wouldn’t accept it if most pilots were good- except for the few who like to crash into mountainsides- but otherwise, you can trust pilots. No one would ever fly. But it’s okay with cops to have a few who crash into mountains, if you will? No. It’s just not.
Anyhow, the point to too all of that is that not all white people are racist. I don’t know if that came across. Like I said, I don’t get it and never will, but I believe in "love thy neighbor’, and not “love thy neighbor that looks like thyself”.
Hi folks. It’s very much a big problem in a lot of societies and it’s not cool. We are an inclusive mob here but I feel this will get political way too quickly. Please also refrain from swearing and beating the profanity filter. Will be watching this thread closely but keep things cool.
As an inclusive community rascism is not tolerated here in any shape or form.
Institutionalised racism is pretty much ingrained in many populations. I’m so called white too but I’m not proud of anything my ancestors did. It isn’t me per se but the process of conquering and such still happened and it’s still the treatment of others today which is the problem.
We are all as guilty if we allow such things to occur in our societies and I for one am not proud of how our culture/civilisation treats others of different race.
You can’t hold someone responsible for what someones Great Great grandfather did 200 years ago.
Also, I’m white but my ancestors never had slaves…My ancestors immigrated here so we never conquered the native americans…so why exactly should I have guilt because of the color of my skin?
I’m not proud of part of my countries history either but you can’t hold current residents responsible for that. It was hundreds of years ago…it matters what we do now.
I watched a documentary yesterday about slavery. “Race” was invented by pseudo scientists to “prove” that people of other “races” were inferior to whites. Therefore not human. Therefore not deserving of equal treatment. Before the inception of the African slave trade this was not so.
It’s a fine line and it’s where it starts. Responsiblility for our cultures actions is the important part. Here in Australia we had more black deaths in custody than South Africa during apatheid.
Yes. You can only be accountable for your actions now but the past matters and absolving blame is a slippery slope to justifying poor behavior. Humans are good at justifying everything and there is a thing called white privilige. It matters.
I’m sorry you’re experiencing racism. That must be very unpleasant. I think if you get angry and harbor a grudge against ALL white people it won’t help you.
I agree. Racists do exist but that is only a small proportion of the white population. And more importantly racists exist in the people of coulor, either.
Racism is everywhere…it’s a serious problem. Sorry that you had that experience. It’s really sad since racism against Asians has gotten worse since the pandemic.
You’re using too broad of a sample. There are a lot of different white ethnicities - Irish, Scandanavian, Welsh, German, French, There are two separate white groups in South Africa, with considerable distrust and resentment between them. The whites that took over the world were the Normans. They were a Viking culture that settled in the north of France. From there they went on to become the ruling class in every European nation.
It’s a tricky thing to talk about, for sure. One of the main problems I see with the way the discussion happens today is that it ignores basic human nature. Nobody wants to feel like they have to defend their right to exist based on things they have no control over. The average white person on the street has no ability to make a meaningful impact on breaking down institutionalized racism, and has no control over the fact that they happened to be born into the race that benefits most from it. So they end up feeling powerless, but still blamed for the pronlems in the world.
Hate groups WANT them to feel this way, because then they come in with a more palatable message. It starts out “hey, we know this isn’t your fault, you don’t have to feel guilty. We know you have problems, too.” This is a normal and good thing to say. But then the message progresses to “doesn’t it make you mad that someone would say this about you? They are wrong to say that. What else are they wrong about? I bet racism isn’t even real, and if it is, it’s clearly actually against YOU.”
Every time we blame all white people for racism, we are doing the white supremecist’s job for them. We are driving away potential allies and making the hate groups seem more welcoming. Nobody wants to join a movement where they are constantly belittled and criticized. That isn’t white fragility, it is basic human nature. We all want to be seen as good people. We all want to be appreciated.
I think we all need to keep in mind that we, as lower and middle class people, have way more in common with each other than with anyone in the upper class and the lawmakers. Keeping us all divided and against each other benefits the people who profit off our exploitation. And we are ALL getting exploited.
Before this thread goes nowhere, here are some genetic facts.
We originated from Africa.
About 100,000 years ago, genetic mutations occur to adapt to the surroundings that humans are living in. This makes some humans to have black skin, some in-between (Asians), and white.
Some people are not 100% white, black, nor Asian due to mix of genetics.
We’re all mutants, people. And I must tell you that racism occurs everywhere, even in Asian countries.
