Does it make it null invoid. like does it cancel out what its meant to do?
Or is it bad and can cause things like death etc.
I just want some answers its not a thread to cause harm or get closed

Alchohol hits the brain receptor and meds does that too… u said u dont drink beer right…or i just forgot…
I used to have a drug problem and I used to drink often but I got clean and sober in AA and I have 28 years clean. So I don’t endorse or encourage anyone to drink or use drugs. Schizophrenics as a whole are more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol then the general population… So that’s the main problem with drinking. No one, schizophrenic or not, sets out to be an addict or alcoholic. But it can happen to anyone.
Taking medication with alcohol can cause problems, it depends on which meds you take.
It is always best to read the leaflet that comes with the tablets.
Welcome back @Simonw!
Thanks zeno I am not sure if I should really be here as I no longer have psychosis and I don’t have a sz diagnosis. I do miss being here as you are a great group of people.
You should be here because you are a good and kind person!
I drank heavily while taking psychotropic drugs. I don’t know what kind of long term effects it had on me, but that was the sickest and weakest I had ever been. I did seem to become stronger when I quit drinking.
Depends which antipsychotic you take, and probably the individual.
i told my pdoc I have 2 glasses of wine every Saturday night and she didn’t sound concerned about it. the wine mellows me out, but not as much as if I wasn’t on ap’s. the alcohol passes through gut and into the blood, my shot is absorbed slowly, not sure how but I don’t think with moderate drinking it will be too detrimental to the ap’s
I don’t think when done in moderation, light drinking is a problem. I do know that alcohol interacts with any medication you take, psych or otherwise, so the posts where it says it depends on the medication don’t make much sense to me.
Alcohol is a CNS depressant. If you’re taking any of those i.e clonazepam there could be serious consequences.
Right now I drink as little as possible, occasionally. I am really loving having a few cups of tea during the day.
Yeah, we know. it’s a tough burden to carry.
