How do you deal with hallucinations

I feel like I’ve tried everything and some things do help but I was wondering what other people do !!

Maybe you could have a conversation with your psychiatrist about clozapine.

It’s a med that’s the gold standard for treatment resistant schizophrenia.

A good few people here are on it.

Naturally there are drawbacks to it (like having to get blood tests regularly.)

Keep fighting for a good quality of life.

I have auditory hallucinations and sometimes animations in my minds eye. I try to distract myself with the forum, I used to watch TV and film a lot but have given that up. Find something that occupies your mind and try doing that when your suffering the hallucinations. I know it’s not great advice but unfortunately there isn’t much I can think of to tell you.

I meditate on God via good music and prayer. Not everyone is religious but meditation in general is huge to finding peace in the moment and I think its very good for mental health. Even if you’re not religious, meditating by clearing your mind and focusing on only your breath is very good therapy.

For me, having a view of something/someone greater than myself gives me hope. Also the meds help me tremendously for my symptoms. Took me 14 years to find a med that works for me.

About seven years ago my psychiatrist added a low-dose of Abilify to my other antipsychotic which I was taking for about 20 years. And it really made a difference to be on a combination of antipsychotics. I love to do my hobbies. I talk to somebody professionally weekly. I like to be physically active and do a little exercise.

I only get them when I sleep, I guess. They’re nightmares. I thought I was going to parallel universes or reincarnating constantly.

I reduced caffeine and stopped reading conspiracy theories, and they pretty much went away permanently.

I’m on clozapine. It’s amazing. Helped me with my schizophrenia more than any other drug.
